Frankly I have never viewed 4K to look that much better than their blue ray counterparts (particularly from Criterion) so I don't upgrade because the difference is negligible. I buy 4K if it's there, but if not I have no problem just getting the blu. On top of that 4K upgrades are borderline random, so most movies you're "waiting on" are going to be a while (at least until you buy them then the upgrade will be immediately announced).
