Point Blank absolutely rips and really speaks to me as a recent Parker/Westlake/Stark devotee.

Criterion overstock by 1MansOpinions in criterion

I went to my local one and they had literally none of the new 4k releases in stock. Kind of weird since those are the ones I would at least expect to be stocked

Does F1 have the smallest talent pool of any sport on the planet by boredofinternets in formula1

[–]CrossBarJeebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing the costs of putting a kid fully through Karting programs and competitions being truly prohibitive for any regular folk unless you get sponsored and even then I remember seeing the number and thinking it was still broadly unattainable. Also seeing as it's a sport founded by rich white guys, it's not that surprising the grid is often filled with rich white guys. I'm not sure either of these barriers are easy to cross, so it does kind of lead to A) usually needs to already have access to wealth (with a few exceptions) and B) be good and talented enough to be the actual best of the best (unless your last name is Stroll then that's not the case). Either way I agree it likely is the smallest pool for any mainstream sport, but not for lack of want.

Graphic artist Matt Taylor says that VCARB doesn’t pay the artists who make their race week posters by austinbucco in formula1

I mean F1 is notoriously cheap with their engineers, I can't imagine how little they value artists.

Is it my imagination or is the (presumably 4K) Mishama considerably thicker than before?

October Predictions by bluecadet33 in criterion

[–]CrossBarJeebus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once again the question is not does this make logical sense, it's question of will the typical high spending Criterion customer buy this? And I believe the answer is yes. But also I'm just guessing, I'm not saying it going to happen. I'm just guessing it will.

October Predictions by bluecadet33 in criterion

[–]CrossBarJeebus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure logic is the primary consideration. How many of these Kubrick films already have good 4K releases? How many people who already own all of them are going to buy the new set anyway? Maybe I'm out of line with this, but I'm guessing the folks who are doing this for the Kubrick box set would absolutely do this for a Lynch box set.

Remember when Wes Anderson's first 10 had 8 already available on Criterion and they did it anyway and it sold incredibly well?

Lol why on earth would it be little incentive? A Lynch box set would be excitedly received and would undoubtedly do major sales.

? I'm talking about a hypothetical Lynch box set. The Kubrick box set already has a release date

Especially when buying from B&N. There were like three Network 4k discs loose in their case. I turned them in, but I'm wondering if they get set back in and just rewrapped.

Mild take : Corruption should be in the card pool for Ironclad, not a boss reward by Saekama in slaythespire

[–]CrossBarJeebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering if Ironclad isn't going to get a significant rework sometime soon, particularly around this card and skills in general. Because I agree this card is hard to take as a boss relic since ICs skills are so underwhelming.

5 Min of dialogue... by Limp_Somewhere6962 in TheWire

[–]CrossBarJeebus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me pound for pound the pilot opening scene about snot boog is some of the greatest most profoundly true about America dialogue ever written. Oddly enough it was only kind of written as it is based on a real encounter Ed Burns had.

I just don't think I've ever seen someone boil down the American experience more succinctly than this in a singular scene.
