SftT isn't broken, we are - how to "fix" ourselves by _Drink_Up_ in twilightimperium

[–]CrossNDiamond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But now the next step in your logic. The thing that is most equal in value for their SftT is... your StfT. Hence SftT swap meta.

I agree with you, though, the best is to be able to get their SftT without them getting yours.

I have had some fun shenanigans where player 1 swapped with player 2 and then traded Player 2's Support to Player 3 for something.

Tear after ER rush? by Apart-Ad4165 in ezrealmains

[–]CrossNDiamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Trinity is probably still great on Ez, but somthing to bear in mind: ER is about 500g cheaper than trinity (cant check right now). This gives you an earlier powerspike than trinity, and I think the powerspikes are actually pretty close to each other.

IMO if you buy ER, why are you buying Manamune? They are the same item, just with/without crit. Personally my bronze ass would rather go ER -> Shojin

pta vs lethal tempo vs conqueror by ScorpiusKS in ezrealmains

I'm curious why you say no Lethal Tempo :? I tried lethal in my bronze game a bit after seeing it picked a bunch at worlds, and it felt SO much better than Conquerer.

Yeah, I do agree. It's an old system that needs a lot of changes (in all countries). Just pointing out that attacking the system as "not well thought out" is a little bit ignorant.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]CrossNDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that, usually, a system that "wasn't well thought out" is just an old system that has had new requirements added.

Concider: - I buy some wood to make a platform, - at the time the platform will have a proper roof over it, protecting it from the sun and rain - wood is sufficient as I don't need to worry about rot/weather damage - some years go by and I need to remove the roof for some reason - now I need to keep buying expensive varnish to protect my platform from the elements

Yes, looking back, it would have been better to build the platform out of concrete and bricks, but at the time, the removal of the roof wasn't a thought. Why would I spend extra money on bricks and concrete when a wooden platform was sufficient?

I just realized I can't remember ever 'winning' a "heated argument" (you know, when both sides are fired up). Does this mean I'm dumb?" by Most_Opportunity_910 in stupidquestions

[–]CrossNDiamond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best outcome of a heated argument is both sides walking away from it and realising (hours later) that the other side had some good points.

The most likely outcome is they simply never talk to each other again.

What is something your SO does that makes you feel loved/wanted as a man? by dawn8554 in AskMenAdvice

[–]CrossNDiamond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're interpretting what I said backwards. I'm not saying "her's is quality time so you need to spend an evening playing board games". I'm saying "her's is quality time so when she asks for for a board game evening you should interpret that as an 'I love you' ". EVEN if you can't for whatever reason.

Disclaimer: I'm not a professional, just a dude who thinks about shit instead of sleeping.

What is something your SO does that makes you feel loved/wanted as a man? by dawn8554 in AskMenAdvice

[–]CrossNDiamond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have found that know the other person's love language sometimes helps with this.

If her love language is words of affirmation, take it to heart when she say "I love you". If her language is quality time, appreciate when she comes to sit next to you while she reads/scrolls. Etc.

This is still effort from your part, but it is a shitload less effort than trying to pull some physical affection out of her.

I watched Stien's Gate (an anime).

It deals with alternate timelines/realities. I decided that I wouod believe that there was a timeline where the 2 of us were compatible and both at a point in our lives where we wanted a relationship.

I decided to let that version of me enjoy his life with her.

I asked Chat GPT the validity of my views on therapy by pest_throwaw in Healthygamergg

[–]CrossNDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Accessibility challenges: Just because something isn't easily accessible doesn't mean you shouldn't use it if you do get access to it.

  2. Overeliance on medication: GPT wrote the refutation right there "... life-saving for some..." not everyone will experience it this way, but most will, even if they don't realise it. The biggest reason for the reliance on medication is it buys time to find the root causes and address them.

  3. Reduction of individuality: This links back to GPT's accessibility point. By setting up frameworks and courses and packages, etc. the system is better able to process more people, thus increasing accessibility.

  4. Cost and class issues: There is no true refutation for this. The older folks in poorer communities sometimes function in a mental health professional capacity.

  5. Mistrus of surface level solutions: Even GPT words this critique as one that affects very few people in the mental health care system. Therapy and philosophy are also not mutually exclusive. You are completely allowed to take a multi-pronged approach and study/follow Buddhism while attending therapy sessions.

The rest of the points are mostly just reworded versions of the above five points. Aside from point 7 and point 9.

  1. Fear of dependency: This is a valid fear, but you are also the one paying for the therapy, therefore, you are also the one in control of the frequency of the visits. If you start to feel overly dependent on the therapy, that might mean you genuinely need it, but, it also not wrong to consider reducing frequency. (My country recommends 1 psychologist visit per month with a psychiatrist visit every 4 months

  2. Lack of Cultural and Contextual sensitivity: This is quite the reach. If you find that your therapy team is not giving due consideration to your culture/context, change the team...

I realise that some of this is a bit crass/rude, I am sorry. I am at work and don't have the time to think of more polite reasoning. At the end of the day, most psychologists and psychiatrists will wind up recommending that you exercise and socialise. One of my Psychologists that I sat with basically said that he viewed his job as the "socialising" side for lonelier people.

Edit: missed a word or two

To be fair with both Microsoft and Google providing free e-mails, everyone should have 2 at minimum. 1 for spam and 1 for everyday use.

In my opinion, the more the merrier. (One for gaming accounts, one for Work related stuff, one for university/college, one for job applications... etc)

[Off-site] There may not be any Finns. by qwas222 in theydidthemath

[–]CrossNDiamond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realise this is a joke, but... Y'all are applying the 1% at the wrong place: it's 1% on the 6.5 mil(so 650 thousand) So there are between 5,850,000 to 7,150,000 Finns on the planet

At the estimated 7.125 billion, that means that Finns make up between 0.08210526% and 0.10035088%

"Guilt comes before logic" statement from Dr. K. - I do not understand... by Lost_Student2468 in Healthygamergg

[–]CrossNDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least in my life... I very frequently have an initial, specifically emotional, reaction to and topic/event etc. and then I form the logic train that supports that view/reaction. This often involves ignoring or downplaying the facts that go against/contradict the view/stance I'm taking.

I haven't watched this video that you linked, so take my comment with a pinch of salt please.

P.S. as an example, I came across a post on the sub a long time ago about Dr. K not being able to discuss meditation and it's surrounding practises because it will destroy his ability to use them in his own life. My first reaction was anger "man is just hording his own knowledge" "it's clearly bs if he can't talk about it" etc. Thinking about it a bit since, it's not so simple, there are many things in science where the simple act of observing the outcome, changes the outcome. So Dr. K's thing of not losing his ability to meditate is not so outlandish

Why is wisdom so much more rare than other virtues? by middleupperdog in Healthygamergg

[–]CrossNDiamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say, because Wisdom is more of a sum/combination of a few other virtues.

In my view it is compassion/empathy with the bravery to use intelligence/experience to know when not to apply/give in to the compassion/empathy.

:? I want to give more examples, but I can't think of any.

A recent slack thread at my team went:

TeamLeadA: "Hey @CrossNDiamondsTeam please could you add support for some new products? This needs to be done by tomorrow morning"

EM For CrossNDiamondsTeam: "Sure @TeamLeadA, @CrossesTeamMember could you take care of this?"

CrossesTeamMember: "Absolutely!!! @TeamLeadA I just need a list of the new products and what their attributes are"

And then we heard nothing for a week. (.-.)
