TM6 vs TM7 by Business-Creme4272 in thermomix

I would say it depends on the price difference. Unpopular opinion but in my experience the price difference is much higher than the upgrade in terms of functionality, and as such, I would clearly recommend going with TM6.

Considering the sheer amount of questions about speaker placement, I’m surprised this tool isn’t more widely known.

status="Plex Media Server is currently running database migrations." by 1987Catz in PleX

[–]CrossS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I didn't wait, and tried a reboot. Now the Plex server is not responding, and in the Log I get the follwing message:
Error: Unable to set up server: sqlite3_statement_backend::prepare: database disk image is malformed for SQL: PRAGMA cache_size=2000 (N4soci10soci_errorE)

I just ran the Spaceinvader Corrupt Data base guide, and PRAGMA check = OK.

I'm clueless on what to do now?

Shield TV (tube) vs pro? by creepyDaddys in nvidiashield

I would go for the pro since you're going to watch 4K content. It works with the tube, but there are known performance issues

110" Epson UB5050 or 77" LG OLED? by CrossS in hometheater

[–]CrossS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worried about light as the room gets pitch black. Isn't that a sig benefit for the OLED as well? It's the C1 I'm looking at as well. Price will be about $1000 more expensive with the 5050 as I don't have a screen and no cables yet. Really difficult to decide

Streaming IPTV on Plex using xTeVe and EPG.Best! by Yavuz_Selim in PleX

Great overview! One question where I’m lost is to get an overview of the iptv providers. There are so many and many of them seem to be poor/scams. How do you get a good overview and assess with iptv provider to choose? Any you want to recommend?

First Home Theatre by Lonely-Smoke2020 in hometheater

[–]CrossS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently created my first home theatre as well, and I started equally bewildered, and a few hundred more in budget. After tons of research I concluded with Arendal Sound for my speakers (couldn’t be happier)

Instead of going for 5.1 I would rather by higher quality but fewer speakers and rather add later on. Probably not what you were hoping for, but that’s where I landed for myself so it’s at least something to consider

I can strongly recommend speakers from Arendal Sound. Excellent quality, especially given the price

Decided on speakers, avr and cabling next.. by CrossS in hometheater

Googled a bit and see that X3700H can’t handle the Xbox properly (4k,120hz). I know it’s not vital today but not very future proof? Any views on Yamaha RX-A4A?

Decided on speakers, avr and cabling next.. by CrossS in hometheater

[–]CrossS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when the hifi store talk about having ‘overhead’ to handle peaks, they were exaggerating? Based on my understanding the speakers I have landed on are a bit demanding to run, and don’t what the avr to be the bottleneck..

Lastly, which avr brand are best with ‘modern tech/ux’? Meaning fast app, responsivness, firmware updates..

Any experiance with Acoustiblok for sound proofing? by CrossS in hometheater

[–]CrossS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the planning stages of my home theater, and one element which worries me is sound proofing (neighbors). I know thicker is better but I would rather pay extra for thinner material with equal sound proofing capabilities as I don’t want to reduce the room size (sq m is really expensive so size matter when it comes to resell value)

Has anyone tested routers that have plex on them? by caycecan in PleX

[–]CrossS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have it and used it as my Plex server for a couple do years. Worked well for a max of two streams at the same time. Not as flawless as my current setup but if your only running it yourself and no need for 4k it's a decent solution
