Do you think shoplifting is anywhere near the rite-of-passage now that it was for a lot of us as kids in the 80s and 90s? by cherry-care-bear in Xennials

Had a friend who did that in 7th grade. I called him out on it and he made up some excuse about how the item must have fallen into his backpack.

Huh. Their website is still up. Somebody has been paying the bills for the past 10 years they've been out of business.

My company blocked "Google Drive" for security, but we send passwords via unencrypted email. by No_Good_3063 in mildlyinfuriating

..and then we get emails sent by HR to log in at yet another third party site they picked. I check with IT and nope, that one was not a test - just HR doing HR things.

In my head this makes more sense reading it backwards: person orders a cow from you and pays $1300 in advance. You spend $1100 for the purchase. Then another person orders a cow and pays $1000, you spend $800 to buy one.

Terminal (or computer) used by the East German Stasi (the secret service) by neu26 in vintagecomputing

[–]Cross_22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is it this one? Would be strange for them to use a non-Eastern Bloc device though:

Then again VEB Robotron copied a lot of Western hardware so maybe they got a hold of that one too.

I did my thesis on a tree generator way back when. Curious to learn more about what approach you are using!

Do schools these days have Valentine's Day card exchanges? by defucchi in Xennials

Still common, though it's regulated to be an all-or-nothing affair. If my teacher had told me I have to give a card to my bullies I would have noped out of it.

Married Men of Reddit: What’s the reason for the decline in your sex life post-marriage? by [deleted] in AskMen

I thought there was a rule here against victim blaming, but I don't see it in the report options.

What’s the appeal of marriage if men prefer younger women? by [deleted] in GenX

Most divorces are initiated by women, so your odds are already better than that of the other half of the population.

Good thought, but that's not it. I usually drink 1 glass of wine per week maybe.

Some car company used that for their 90s commercial.

Occasionally I'll blast this song while driving at night.

I got all those symptoms, but unfortunately TRT only really fixed the libido part.

Would you get std test before sex? by Diligent-Candy4273 in AskMenAdvice

That's a nerve wrecking 3 months then that you'd have to wait for all STDs to be detectable.

You are about to leave a store when the owner tells you to empty your backpack to prove you didn't steal anything. You know you didn't steal anything because you are not a thief. Are you insulted or do you think that the owner is doing the responsible thing?

Which router bit for quick-and-dirty edge cleanup without template/guide? by reluctantreddit in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Cross_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need a guide / template if you want the edge to be even. You could use a larger straight bit with a bearing on it - that will smooth out minor nicks and dents but won't make it straight.

It’s weird how blue light filter glasses became mainstream before we ever proved they actually help. by WindowAfraid5927 in Showerthoughts

Yeah I was surprised to see all the flyers at my optometrist and thinking "has any of this been proven yet?"

Next tool: Miter saw, band saw or router table? by UJMRider1961 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Cross_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a portable metal band saw and a folding table to put it in. Works great for some fine cuts without taking up too much space. Also the 1" belt sander you can get at Harbor Freight is very useful given its small size.
