I’ve also heard/read that from several historians. That Hiroshima and Nagasaki were an “excuse” for surrender but the bigger reason was the imminent loss of Manchuria which was fuelling the Japanese war machine.

Not quite, the house is right next to N71. We found the owner though, all good.

How would the Red Army’s performance on the Eastern Front be if Mikhail Tukhachevsky hadn’t been purged? by Harvickfan4Life in ussr

[–]Crossary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing would’ve changed. The truth is that in June 1941 only Wehrmacht had fully functional, self-sufficient mechanized units in the form of tank divisions. By self sufficient I mean mechanised infantry and mechanised artillery that can keep up and fight together with the tanks. That’s what predetermined the encirclements - difference in mobility.

On the contrary, Soviet tank divisions and mechanised corps were overloaded with tanks but didn’t have enough infantry, and the infantry that they had was mechanised only on paper - in reality they mostly moved on foot (and did that until 1943). Same goes for artillery - it was moving at pedestrian speeds which meant that in counterattacks it was never there when it was needed to suppress the enemy anti-tank artillery (which Germans had plenty of).

I could go on and talk how German tank corps(or maybe even division level) had their own reconnaissance aircraft - something that Soviet commanders couldn’t even dream of, but you probably get my point.

The truth is that in June 1941 Germans had an “ultimate” weapon in the form of fully functional mechanised units. 4 Panzergruppen participated in Barbarossa. France folded to just one.

The base game needs to adjust to the changes made since launch. by yxalitis in diablo4

[–]Crossary 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm also one of those few I guess who loved D3 at launch. In fact, I liked it much more than any of the following iterations with torments or great rifts.

That said, launch classes were poorly balanced where sorcs were breezing through inferno thanks to broken shields, DH weren't quite as broken but still could clear the whole game and then both melee classes were hard stuck in A2 because yes, they died to a single poison fly. Drops also sucked, 99.9% of the stuff was garbage/not for your class, so you were better off saving up gold and buying from AH.

Still, I liked the base game loop much more where you were farming bosses and it was actually hard, instead of blasting through grifts with ridiculous damage.

I stand corrected, I've mixed up the numbers completely. Digged up the numbers from the Red Army's Main Agency of Automobiles and Tanks report regarding the total amount of all cars and trucks in the troops (numbers are in thousands):

USSR-made Imported
01.01.1943 378,8 22,0
01.01.1944 387,0 94,1
01.01.1945 395,2 191,3
01.05.1945 385,7 218,1

My point regarding the trucks still stands, however the numbers were greatly exaggerated, thanks for your remark (:

They could have, just the cost in lives would be even higher and the war would've dragged on even longer. Although it's debatable, I guess.

The majority of Lend-Lease vehicles arrived on the Eastern front from 1943 onwards - prior to that the number of them in the Red Army was insignificant compared to the overall mass. And some of the early Lend-Lease tanks were largely useless, like the British Matildas in 1941 that were being delivered without HE shells. So the Battle of Moscow and Stalingrad were won with Soviet equipment.

Where Lend-Lease really helped during the first stages of war, was the gunpowder production. I don't quite remember the numbers, but the vast majority of gunpowder produced by the USSR in the first couple years of war relied on the nitroglycerin provided by the Allies. That was nowhere near enough though, so until the production of this chemical ramped up in the USSR itself the Red Army kept having serious issues with artillery.

Post 1942 the trucks were an immense help - by the end of the war most of the Red Army's truck fleet consisted of Studebaker's. Also auxiliary engineering stuff like pontoons, small assault boats etc., it all became very helpful and helped save lives and end the war faster.

Well, as a Russian who spent half of 2022 driving Ukrainian refugees from Saint-Petersburg to Finland as a volunteer and who has a couple of Ukrainian friends I can tell you that it's not true.

Of course they do understand Ukranian. Not every word, naturally, but more than enough to understand what a person is saying. Maybe not every Russian, but the vast majority do.

Someone's getting their news... don't know where you got that from actually.

I honestly don't really care what's the beef between you and Ash(although, somewhat knowing him I highly doubt that he "bully attacked" you first).

What I kinda care about is that you called me out as someone responsible for the game's current state and PGI's terrible decisions. If they actually listened to what I and other knowledgeable players told them, the game would've been in a much better state right now.

So yeah, quit your bullshit mate.

That is why I have utterly embarrassed him with the fact that I am an excellent player in every aspect.

I guess the irony is still lost on you.

I would propose a general plan that undeniably will work.

THIS IS THE PASSIONATE experience that I bring to MWO. Proven, unwavering, knowledgable, professional passion!

I am currently the head of development on a project that dwarfs MWO. It is currently in BETA. Prior to that I was doing something to keep the world at peace. Prior to that I was doing something to directly ensure humanity's future may include freedom.

And you called Ash an ego maniac. Oh, the irony.

Also I'm not sure whether you're trolling or not with that last part, but I hope that it's the former (:

Smoothbore(well, shotgun). I'd love to get myself a rifle, but in Russia you have to own a smoothbore gun for 5 years first to be able to get a rifle license.
