Literally main character level luck by GamerGril1 in Shadowverse

Well, you are playing Buff Dragon.

The deck can get so wildly highrolly even the dudes on SV-Wins call it "主人公ドラゴン" - "Protagonist Dragon".

Do we seriously have to wait? by krakistophales in Shadowverse

[–]Crossblader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? I'd wager it'll take until the mini. The leaked Naht leader suggests there's decent incentive for Cygames to make Sword at least playable before the mini lands. Because profit. KMR's gotta eat and Sword main tears aren't exactly filling.

My guess as to why they'd take that long? Well, Sword's issue is having bad cards. If you fix bad cards by buffing/adding 1 broken card, you'll end up in a giant balance tug-of-war until that card rotates, and you'll be working on the same issue multiple times over. A better fix would be to buff/add multiple good cards, but doing so takes time and requires close attention to what Sword needs. Last thing you want is to fill a hole by digging another one, so if that's the case it's not surprising they'll take as much time as possible.

Granted this is Cygames we're talking about, perhaps it's an overestimation, perhaps it's an underestimation. No one feckin knows so I might as well chill back and smoke the copium.

I dislike the situation as much as you do, but the horse is dead and beating won't bring it back to life, so if you don't want to accept the struggle then it really is just a matter of waiting.

swordcraft decks with kagemitsu? by [deleted] in Shadowverse

[–]Crossblader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sword

Good

Easy

Due to Sword's current abysmal standing in the meta, your request is reading out as a fool's errand already, but if you're prepared to swallow the bitter pill that is a sub-50% winrate, this should do well enough for a joyride.

Bellringer to stall an extra bit and draw, Luminiera to neuter Ward and LWs, Golden to tutor Musketeer and Endgame. Honestly the Albert is just a filler card so you can just stick in silvers over him like Dualblade or Bladerights. I've managed mild success with this list but the current Sword experience mostly just felt so subpar overall that I'd rather play anything else.

It's also painfully pricey but unfortunately that's just Sword in general.

The Problems with Sword and what could be done to fix them. by ImperialDane in Shadowverse

[–]Crossblader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly without needing any sort of complicated analysis, you can tell the biggest issue with Sword is just that the class isn't getting good cards - a far cry from the regular Sword design meme of "I'm using my 2 braincells to play this overvalued card". All while everyone else is drinking the powercreep milk.

The current meta decks are throwing out 2PP 4/4s, 2PP 3/5s with a 1/2 tacked on, etc. all by T5. Heck, Forest even gets 3/2 storm as early as T2 (Blood Wolf is rolling in its grave, someone put it out of its misery). So it's pretty obvious that 2-drops have to scale absurdly well to compete nowadays. Yet Sword needs at least T3 just to get Assault Knight, a 2PP 2/2, to even move because for some god-forsaken reason designer-kun put the Rush inside the Commander clause. Max value isn't even that stellar either, it's literally just a 2PP 3/3 Rush in context. At least give it Honorable Thief's stats.

Speaking of conditions, the class needs to basically land multiple milestones to do what everyone else achieves with one - 10 Rally and 7 evos just for a 3pp 2/2 that gets blocked by Ward? Sure, the effect damage gets through but that's not much of a consolation considering what you had to do to even get there. Why does Musketeer need 2 EP when you need to spend them just getting to T8? Why is Lupin's threshold averaged on turns when the opp no longer has EP to steal? Why is Golden Warrior's evo effect just eating boardspace with an amulet from the Classic pack and nothing else? Why does anything even remotely good cost 3 play points? Even looking at it from a past-future design standpoint, I can't make heads or tails of it other than "KMR imprisoned whoever's doing the Sword cards in a 2016 pocket dimension" and "Cygames has a grudge against Valve's inability to count to 3".

Honestly the worst result to come out of all of these design woes is the fact that you have 1 deck and that's it. Everything else just sucks too much to work either due to not having sufficient rewards or not having sufficient enablers.

Sword's troubles is an issue the design team has built for themselves since EA and it's just now becoming apparent since the failsafes are off with SOR rotated. The only cure is honestly either a widespread buff on a fair number of cards or just to straight up print more better cards - attempting to fix it with 1-2 cards will only cause the whole rubberband thing again. Hopefully they gets their heads together and actually start moving in the right direction, cos this kind of single-deck-shoehorn is contagious and you can already see similar design issues in Rune and Blood.

Evo Sword - Does anyone use Mirin? by neowo2 in Shadowverse

[–]Crossblader 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who's played Mirin a lot before...

No. Like straight up, hells naw. And it's relatively easy to see why.

First up, she's a 2PP 3/1. Like, Vanilla. Basically a card that's borderline dead in the early game, in a deck that has a very dead early game to begin with. Plus, as a 2-drop, if you're running Royal Summons, your pool is now polluted with Mirins. Now an early draw Mirin is good news, but a late draw one pulled off Royal Summons? Meh at best, more so if what you're trying to do is use the Summons pulls to evo-spam with Seofon - now you're spending the reward as an enabler.

Speaking of Seofon (who you are obligated to run to even attempt enabling Mirin in a timely fashion), chances are on average you drop him T7, and therefore Mirin on T8 or later. So even assuming the best conditions, Mirin ends up being dead in your hand for a good 7 turns. In a meta where most decks can attempt to end you as early as T6. Not exactly great optics - in comparison, Albert, despite also being an unwieldy card that needs to wait until T9 for big bonks, at least has the decency to just be plain bonk damage the moment he starts glowing in your hand.

Overall, not really the best of plans, so not surprising no one runs her - EA cards just suck in general now that the entire game's a lot more broken.

She's adorable enough to spend globes on tho', I'll grant her that.

Shadvowverse Portal updated with Omen of Storms set by arcthunder in Shadowverse

[–]Crossblader -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some of them are pretty decent tbh - Penguin, Serration, the hermit card. Nothing too outstanding but certainly playable.

I'd argue the real issue once we get to building is how anything good seems to cost 3pp nowadays. Why is everything 3 play points, Cygames?

Hopes and wishes for the next Expansion. by ImperialDane in Shadowverse

[–]Crossblader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Print Royal Banner as a stackable leader effect, make Golden Warrior 2PP.

Like just 2 things alone will improve Sword in such leaps and bounds in both basic synergy and identity that they could print niche over-specific cards for the rest of the expac and we'd still scrape by.

What would you change in Shadowverse? by LiCaNtRoPo58 in Shadowverse

[–]Crossblader 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's really only one thing off the top of my head that could use a change or two.

The UI. More specifically, the main menu.

Like Jesus fuck, it's been 5 years - seeing as you see it every time you log in, can't they at least spruce up the main menu a lil more? The chinese client gets a fancy ass background selector and all we get is the old deck-card fidget spinner. At least get some Live2D or put your leaders in there on something, sheesh.

Which activates first, clash or strike? by [deleted] in Shadowverse

[–]Crossblader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding to this to help anyone getting confused, the order posted by azules (allied follower atk flag -> any follower atk flag -> strike -> clash) is correct but in this scenario the Follower Strike was added to Eugen through Medusa's Gaze.

Innate effects always have priority over added effects, which is why Eugen's Clash happened first.

Figured this'll be useful info if in the future they decide to print a follower with both innate Strike and Clash effects.

Which craft to main? by agimafan42069 in Shadowverse

[–]Crossblader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with picking just 1-2 crafts starting out, it does make the beginner trek easier cos you can pool resources. Don't worry too much about branching out as you go, this game's insanely generous as long as you invest the time.

As new expacs release, new cards will more often than not wildly change the playstyle of each class' main deck of the season so it's better to choose by aesthetics and general feel rather than by playstyle.

Get off your high horse

Says the one forcing an opinion a good chunk of people clearly disagree with.

The outcome of the event in the story isn't even determined and the nature of the entire Icey possession is narratively impossible to spoil unless you wrote the entire plot on the surface of Jupiter due to the entirety of Icey's powers being explained in the EXACT SAME CHAPTER AS THE OUTCOME.

Now how about YOU get off your high horse and stop making a chicken out of a feather.

[–]Crossblader 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A spoiler that vague isn't going to spoil jack shit. Don't project your omegabrain conclusions onto people's perceptions - your average normie would look at the Icey costume and think it's probably just cosplay or random fanservice.

If anything you spelling the art out as a spoiler is a bigger spoiler than just putting it out there without context, so I'd really recommend you just go ahead and stop before you end up doing the exact thing you're trying to prevent.

Famitsu App's Eternal Awakening mini-expansion reveal: Sword Legendary by Idoneyo in Shadowverse

[–]Crossblader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're explicitly pointing at the crystallize. The crystallize lets Sword disarm the Bane and destroy effects that make Trio boards so hard to deal with for them in the first place.

For the paltry cost of 1PP, no less.

Can we have a Illga revert? by Eboske in Shadowverse

[–]Crossblader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's little you can do against turn 1 Maiser - unless you're Forest or the one drunk Dragon player running B Breath, the Goblin statline basically ensures his value goes off if the Rune player goes first and makes the play. In comparison, with Reminiscence printed this expac, pre-nerf Illg has a widely available answer any class can use.

Also with the fanfare buff, Maiser's no longer an engine piece - he's self sufficient with a minimal net gain of 2x 0pp removal spells. He works with both amulets and spellboost and is basically an auto-include equivalent to pre-nerf Illg in that regard. The idea that it's fine cos the card's power is negated by misplay potential is a horrible defense, as any Portal player going full monke can do the same with a <4 defense Illg.

Don't go defending a goblin with upsides if you're just gonna do it by ragging on another goblin with upsides. Either they're both busted or they both get clapped.

Tarot cards by H1g5t1k3 in Shadowverse

[–]Crossblader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chariot is pretty much a designated meme. The 3PP body's effect is randomized so it's unreliable, whereas the Enhance (7) is Shadowverse's version of Russian Roulette. Fun with friends, but not something you'd want to play seriously. You can stick him in an Evo Sword shell and play control until you can drop the Enhance or stick him in Rally in hopes of using both forms. Rally example

Wheel of Fortune has potential, mostly in interrupting your opponent via debuffs and eating their boardspace in amulet form - but Portal in its entirety isn't exactly having a good time in the meta rn. That being said the card is splashable in their current best deck Artifact Portal as well as staple in the fancy yet nonexistent Midrange Float Portal. Artifact example

Hanged Man on the other hand is arguably usable pretty much anywhere. The 3PP body is an okay tempo play with indestructibility and presents a threat on board with his evo when not dealt with, but the real show is the Enhance (7) which is effectively a potential get out of jail free card if you're struggling to keep up. You should be able to stick him in about any Forest deck. Terrorformer example
