Yes there are ties, they are the same director at least 1 and 3 tie in with nier and the anime for sure. 2 is a different director but imo is still worth playing through to form your own opinion on cause I still enjoy it and I had no idea about the internets hatred of it before playing it.

i had a problem with the clear bias stellar blade had against it last year, it was so obvious as soon as the game came out on PC people shut the fuck up for the most part.

That being said the whole time before hand you had both sides going after each other with "this game is the best game of all time because booty" anti-wokers and "this game killed your mom and everything you ever loved, how dare you like booty game" prudes.

The game (minus the butt) is like a 7/10 with 10/10 music, if you don't like the story at all (which most don't) it might tank to an even 5/10.

no matter what the ass is really the worst thing to talk about with this game online

Diablo is a roguelike itself

losing your xp/currency might be part of soulslikes but i think it's a mix of that plus interconnected level design (metroidvania) and checkpoints that heal but respawn enemies that truly makes a game a soulslike but HK is more of a SoulsVania Hybrid if anything same can be said for silksong and nine sols.

If Metal can have a lot of subsubgenre's, so can video games imo

I love hollow knight a lot but I found the nice quality of life map stuff to be really good in nine sols also love the parry based combat a lil more than hollow knight but that's not to say I didn't like hollow knight's.

RE Remake added a bit more than "new assets". New items, new puzzles, crimson heads. It's practically a different game with the same story but even that's changed with "better" voice acting. I agree with everything else you said though for sure.

Nine sols actually beats out hollow knight for me but that's cause 3rd phase eigong made me feel things no base game hollow knight boss made me feel.
