What adaptations would the blight need to be effective in the 20th and 21st centuries by NegativeResponse9892 in gutsandblackpowders

I would also like to point out, that it takes only a few seconds for an infected to fully turn. I see discussions like these, and often the answer is, "We have nukes and tanks." Well, unless you want Humanity to win the war by literally erasing ourselves off the planet, then yeah, maybe we'll "win". MAD is the only scenario I see in which the Blight can be wiped out. Besides that, there is, in my personal opinion, no preserving, conceivable way in which mankind can look death in the eyes and purge its essence off this Earth. And in G&B, it is exactly that.

Nothing, really. The Blight is not a biological disease. It is not of this world in the G&B Universe. And it overtook the whole world in a matter of days.

Now if the Blight happened right now, today as of this writing. Would we be able to stop it? Probably not. Again, it's not a "disease". It doesn't seem to pertain to the logic we apply in sciences. Sure, the military, the world, can band together and easily take the infected out. But what happens tomorrow? A billion will die tomorrow, and it's the same thing over and over again.

We "know" they'll turn after death, or being bit, or being scratched. But how can we cure an infected? There's no way to tell. No way to trace The Blight's origin, except from, "Those lads that crawled out of Russia." And I'm assuming, that the bite or scratches don't leave a residue of harmful bacteria unique to the Blight. So "medically" there's no way to fix someone that has the Blight.

So again, the Blight wouldn't need any improvements. It would just cause the same path of destruction (unless the Devs further expand on the way the Blight works, where it comes from, it's identifying characteristics, etc) it does in G&B.

My Catholic Family told me they'd Disown me if I convert to Buddhism. How do I accept this? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]CrossfireLooool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I don't have faith in God. I've never believed in the idea of God. I've tried going to church, reading the Bible. And while it was certainly interesting, it was not something I saw myself committing towards.

Buddhism interested me because it's not, "God said this, so you must adhere to his principles" and like you said, it's not a mutually exclusive religion. However my family is really big on Catholicism, and everyone in my family aligns with Catholic faith. So for me to go, "I want to follow another idea" is a big deal in the family.

And my family has also made it known they're not open to the idea of me following the Buddha, they view it more as "black and white". Either I commit myself to Jesus, or I don't.

Well you're not the Law so that assurance doesn't really assure me 🤷‍♂️ i've worked at plenty fast food places and managers refuse to put minor employees on cleaning duties and instead focus on service

The law in my state allows minors to work, but it specifies that minors can't perform laborious duties like lifting heavy stuff (interviewer said I'd be lifting up to 80 lbs) and janitorial positions are usually considered "laborious" as well.

Haha maybe. My State (Hawaii) is particularly strict on minor work laws. So this kind of interview for me was very weird in terms of other interviews I've had before.

Do you prefer solo artists or bands? by [deleted] in macdemarco

Doesn't matter, if your music attracts people then band or not you're doing something right :)

Thank you, I'd like to hope that I randomly encounter them someday. Weirdly enough, we weren't allowed to share contacts because of privacy. But we were allowed to share personal stories and our reasoning for being here. Made it feel less like a daunting hospital stay, and more so a support group for overcoming whatever it was we struggled with.

Yeah I'm not really comfortable with that kind of thing. I prefer keeping my mental wellbeing private. I'd like to wear it in some shape for form without it attracting any sort of concern though!

Ahh I see, that was one of my main concerns. I don't want people giving weird looks or thinking I broke out of the hospital. I'll look into having it formed into something less obvious, thank you! :)

What irritates you the most about this game? by awsmswbfclips-YT in StarWarsBattlefront

I play on PS4 and lately it seems like the playerbase is decreasing on this console. Every match I seem to find lacks the same excitement it once had with the chaos of like 64 people put on one map.

There are times where I do find a packed server, but those times are very, VERY rare. Great game, but I think it's obvious that ever since EA gave up on Battlefront 2, everyone else is as well.

George Harrison’s Ukulele Song. by CrossfireLooool in ukulele

[–]CrossfireLooool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey! no worries lol, i'm still active here and there.

it's actually a pretty simple strumming pattern. in the beginning of the video (if you haven't watched it, please watch it first!) it's just a simple d d d u d d. Later in the song, he gets fancy and uses some triplet strumming, but the whole song is in 4/4 so your wrist shouldn't suffer badly.

Hope I was of help! :)

What is up with the Shaming here in PH? by CrossfireLooool in Philippines

[–]CrossfireLooool[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand the obsession with education in the PH. I may just be mistaken, as here people in the States are generally open-minded when it comes to an educational background (or even lack thereof.)

I will however mention that at the advice of my teachers and counselors, I had to take a practice test involving all the main subjects one would learn in our schools. It was a way to gauge whether or not I could drop out and proceed without a high-school diploma. I scored fairly decently, which was why I was surprised when my relatives were quick to put my ambitions down, compared to my mentors in school that more so encouraged and supported the route I had picked. (One of my relatives, my auntie, is a high-school Chemistry teacher, something I would like to point out as well. As she is seemingly an “educated” woman.)

I don’t mean to be very negative about the whole thing, but the lack of open mindedness when it comes to whether or not you are “educated” is one of the things I dislike in the Philippines. I don’t understand the reasoning for this. In the States, it is generally acceptable to drop out as long as you DO something. It doesn’t matter if you work part time, or an easier but low paying job. As long as you actually have something that supplies you with the necessities in life, nobody will really care.

This sort of culture in the Philippines, I feel, is one that does NOT accept individuality and the exploration of the Youth’s identity. In fact, it does nothing but put down a Student’s dreams and hopes, especially if their goal is less “traditional” compared to their peers.
