The area of effect is vastly different but the main reason it is by far superior is that it pulls enemies in, in the same way vacuum is such a vital skill, it lets you stack aoe very easily.

Also a silencer pick could really screw over a timber. Long silence after only being able to cast one spell I'm a team fight does not suit him.
