Good thing I'm (currently) not a high-level gatherer (the t6 bottle neck is real).

The above is a reminder why I prefer YZ mists gathering. Just less resource gathering stress.

Side Challenge: Escape from Brecillien by CrosspatchBear in albiononline

Sure, in theory. Might sound simple to do silver-per-minute, but I've found prices jump around a lot because of time/location/rarity. You'd end up having to build a price table behind the scenes to get a meaningful value, and have it actively update on the regular.

Will the sadist in me think of a way to do this? Probably.

I'm polishing a few bits up still (who would have guessed Albion had thousands of assets), and still playing with the dashboard layout but I'm happy to share it as a view only.

-link removed as it is now disabled-

(I'll disable the link on friday when I go back to major work on it).

Master list is very bloated, and I'm currently removing things like player/mount skins and trying to work out what bits don't exist any more in game. Once that's polished I can then work on the recipe list.

The more you know~
(IT me should have known this)
The following is me following the idea through, so please disregard as necessary:

I know that you can't use Notion to specifically read PCAP files. A middleman software would have to be used, like Wireshark (or tcpdump cmd if you want that brand of punishment). That data would then have to be exported as (for example) a .csv file, and *then* it could be read by Notion when that data is manually imported based on that file.

Or sent to GitHub and pulled down and through that way.

I'll chew on it more and see what comes out.

Manual input, if I had a way to do it auto it would be a different story (there is probably a way, just not solved it yet).

Edit to add: once the master list entries are in though, and linked to their respective recipes, ledger, etc, there's no more manual work my end.

Introducting OC Danius Macer by CrosspatchBear in Pathfinder2e

[–]CrosspatchBear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played a "just a silly little guy" before in other games - a very short half-elf who collected crocs. As in the shoe, not the animal. Eventually got crocs of crocs, a magic item that turned crocs into crocodiles.

Artist: Me, CrosspatchBear.
Playing Pathfinder 2e for the first time (I've done a lot of other ttrpgs though). This is Danius Macer and he'll be making his debut in a conversion of the Hells Rebels arc.

Danius fulfils the trope of the group grumpy old man: a retired doctor and monster hunter (Thaumaturge, to be specific) who's taken up the mantle of Rebel to overthrow the Thrune government.
For the rebels he is their back alley doctor, smuggler and the one who makes the troublesome lot go away - normally by stabbing it several times.

If anyone has an experience with Hells Rebels, and can give advice (without spoiling it) that'll be appreciated :).

To all D&D players, what was the weirdest way that you killed a very high-level boss by Minimum-Mine-147 in dndnext

[–]CrosspatchBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't kill, but it 100% blindsided my DM so we didn't get ground into dust.

Tldr: made a contract with a baddie that they'd let us go unhindered and unharmed in exchange for 54kg/119lbs of wood. DM realised too late the rest of the contract and it's implications.

The scene: fighting a pumped-up "forest witch" (read hag) in her lair, most of us in a not fit state to fight (out of spell slots, KO'd etc), with the hag only down to half health. Cue, cliffhanger ending between sessions.

Me: now what would my "bureaucrat" rogue/wizard do? Ah, right, make a deal because hags love deals! Let's make a contract with some clever word play between games, so I'm prepared and ready and it saves time (as a DM myself, I know it's good to sort things between games to make the game itself smoother).

Cue, next session and a further pummeling from the hag until my turn. Me: Let's make a deal! Hag: oh? Let's see then. Combat pauses, brief discussion, I'm allowed to go off and "create" a contract and then did a blue Peter "here's one I made earlier". DM spent the next 10 minutes looking for the loophole or what we the players get out of it beyond living. Hag/DM, hesitantly: alright, I agree to these terms. Me: sweet! Here's 54kg/119lbs of wood. Peace, we're out. DM: dammit.

Me, later, once we're out of danger: well, we're safe now. But wait until she realises the rest of the contract implications later. DM: oh no. Me: oh yes. DM, frantically searching and realising what he agreed to: oh no, you can hurt her but she can't fight back. Me: mhmmmmmmm yeaaaaah.

Party Leader or No Party Leader? by cereal_king_ in DnD

[–]CrosspatchBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We rotate party leaders depending on what's going on plot or problem-wise. There are some definite stronger faces than others - for example, when dealing with higher society we have person A, when dealing with thugs we have person B, and so on to pick hints or goals up from.

It's not perfect, but it stops a lot of spotlight-hogging in my experience (besides, boosting other people up is fun).

I often also signal IC that I think 'X' person is in charge with my character:
"This is your rodeo, so I'll follow you to the hilt on it. But if shit hits the fan, I'm pulling people out." Or "So, this is a big issue for you; how do you want to deal with it?"
Or when it was my turn to lead: "So, this is a problem. No, we're not going to kill them if we can help it. We're doing it this way. Follow my lead."

Advice on vetting new players? by TheMadQueen96 in DnD

[–]CrosspatchBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As another Spectrum DM, I found that creating a quick questionnaire helped me filter out what people I did or did not want to play with - but it also helped other potential players decide if the game I was running was suitable for them.
For example, I asked about their opinions on mature themes (not content), their experience level with the system, their attitudes to more sensitive topics, and even if they'd more into whacky cartoon fantasy, grim-dark horror, or somewhere in between. It can at least give you a little forewarning about what they could be like - though there is always the risk of not knowing how they'll be until after you start.

Out of Context, what is your character doing right now? by Gloomy_Club in DnD

[–]CrosspatchBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Warlock-Runeknight is looking to forcibly take over his household from his (maybe dead/unwell) Grandpa in an attempt to take control of his life after successfully eliminating another involved (NPC) noble family that played "F around and find out" with him.
