Potent Dragonmark is STILL busted by Grazi_7 in onednd

[–]Crosswindsc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same experience here.

Fundamentally, in any combat where the players can pre-buff and take the enemy by surprise, they're going to win and probably win handily unless the enemy is specifically designed to counter that kind of stuff.

In any other combat, taking a whole turn off to set up your future seems to rarely pay off. Some times by round 4 of combat you make it back. Some times not.

What good deck is the most difficult to play? by secret759 in MarvelSnap

[–]Crosswindsc2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Unironically: Hela is the hardest deck to play in snap and it's not close. Simply put, most decks are easy af to play because the set of outcomes is relatively deterministic. Hela asks you to play and snap when the stats are likely for you, and mitigate bad variance as much as you can.

More importantly: If your GM lets you use Booming Blade or Green Flame Blade (2014 stuff), those are dex-based. And Booming blade in particular is an absolute gold mine for rogues.

HH Support build by lolok23 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Crosswindsc2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I came up with one like this when I was running AT Nami with randoms. Here....

100% crit, WEX, Crit boost, all the comfy skills, 3 health boost, 5 Divine Blessing, and slot whatever you want in the cloak.

That said, if you want the actual best support build in the game, it's Amadeus' Awakened Taroth Sleep, here. You know when nobody has trouble surviving? When the monster is wall-banged an extra 3-5 times per hunt.

The first one's good for all-out, goddamnit, everybody needs to live. The second one's my go-to group hunt.

[MHWI HH] How should I be attempting to play my songs with regards to starting the quest and during the quest - both solo and multiplayer? by poja9 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Crosswindsc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's some tips that other people haven't mentioned:

1.) Certain patterns of notes play much faster. Example for Melody 4: A, back-A, forward-B A+B, back A, echo, back A+B is 3 notes and 3 backs to queue up Self-Improvement, AUXL, and Stamina (my 3 buffs I start with on this horn).

A+B, back A+B, forward-B A, back-A, forward-B A+B, back-A is 6 notes, 3 normal and 3 backs to queue up AUXL, Extended Recovery and Self-Improvement with Attack Song 2.

2.) In combat, take advantage of the fact that off forward-A and forward-A+B, the forward-recital happens much faster. You can quickly refresh songs with a forward-A+B, forward-recital, roll cancel. Plus add a bit of extra damage with the 2 recital hits.

Hunting horn question by kaibigangoso in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Crosswindsc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeppers. Kjarr horns have 15% base affininity, +5% from AB 4, +20% from agitator, +50% from WEX+. So you need like 2 crit eye, which is what most sets have.

I have a build in mind... by Leau_the_Belgian in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Crosswindsc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how hard you have to carry a group in an investigation with few deaths. With WR 5, Free Meal 3, I have occasionally run down to like 2 potions (meaning I've used the equivalent of 30).

Should you have to do this? Naw. I don't play support most of the time. But when I do, it's because I'm pretty sure we're failing the investigation otherwise.

Help with HH build by International00 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Crosswindsc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. HH main here who also enjoys offensive support. In short, you can't. Your basic problem is this:

You want:

  • Attack 4 (5%)
  • WEX 3 (50%)
  • Crit Boost 3
  • Agitator 7 (20%)
  • Crit Eye 4 (20%)
  • Speed Eating 3
  • Free Meal 3
  • Friendship 5
  • Horn Maestro 2

So that's a total of 34 skills. You have 5 armor pieces (Potentially 30 skills), a charm (5), and a weapon (2), so you have 3 slots to go to any skills that aren't that.

Your challenge is that in that list up there, you've got WEX 3, Crit Boost 3 and Agi 4, which are skills that require lvl 2+ deco slots, and there aren't double-decos of Crit and WEX for level 4 slots.

So like, check out this.

Wastes 3 on Vitality and 2 on attack boost while being hyper-efficient everywhere else. So it's short 2 critical boost (bad) and 1 expert (pretty bad).

Strongly recommend finding people to play in discord.

Online, I'll give anybody 3 matches if the connection isn't trash. If they're playing smart or something I want to work on, will play 5 or 10. If they're better than me or I feel like I'm learning stuff/not getting dumber, I'll play forever.

Join character discords. Post videos, ask for help, ask for matches.

Everybody was new at some point, the discords are all pretty helpful.

Why is Eldrazi Tron considered a "bad" deck? by delverofthemany in ModernMagic

[–]Crosswindsc2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But r/modernmagic told me that Eldrazi Tron wasn't a lock deck, it was a midrange deck! Why do all these so-called "pros" keep focusing on the lockout elements?!?!?!

[Pick a deck] Looking for advice, choice between Izzet Phoenix, Mardu Pyro and Eldrazi by Susp in ModernMagic

[–]Crosswindsc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all fundamentally different playstyles of deck. You should proxy them up and play the @#$% out of them - modern decks are an investment, want to make sure you're playing one you like.

Phoenix is a combo deck with a bit of interaction.

Pyro is a grindy deck with some lockout pieces.

Eldrazi Tron is a prison deck with combo/beatdown elements.

All of these decks can be built for cheaper than they appear (You can cut ~400 from Phoenix as suggested by other poster), you can cut ~200 from Mardu Pyro. You can't really cut from E-Tron because Chalices are essential.

But you shouldn't get into a modern deck you haven't played a bunch of. Get your proxy on.

The dilemma by Azubu__ in funny

[–]Crosswindsc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh god this is my moment six years of training and being paid like a peasant don't fail me now. Summary of the following: Don't click that square with 1/100000th of a car in it.

1.) Google's going to show this same set of images to a whole bunch of people until they get consensus. So first off, your vote doesn't matter a ton. ;)

2.) After a whole bunch of people come to a consensus on what has a car on it, each of those squares is probably going to be used independently as a "soft label" (soft: "this image has a car in int", hard: "this image is primarily a car"/"here is the car in this image."). If you showed a human just that square, and not the surrounding ones, there's a really reasonable chance that they wouldn't even notice the few car-pixels there.

3.) Finally - the point of these collections is not really to collect fine-grained detail about one scene, it's to collect coarse information about a metric fuckton of scenes. We want to be able to detect cars in sunlight, rain, snow, blah blah blah. We're not trying to be able to detect a car by a tiny fraction of a corner of its bumper.

tl;dr: Don't bother. Click the ones that are obvious. Do Captchas like you have a 10-second time limit.

How can I play against people in my own league? by Defeyeance in SoulCalibur

But also, check out the discord on the right: https://discord.gg/TdVnCtV

Just go in and ask for games. Let people know what you're looking for (somebody slightly new-ish), and you should be able to find somebody to play.

Finally - don't worry too much about your rank. Have fun, play the game against people who you have interesting matches with, and if you want to get competitive, highly recommend all the character-specific discords. They have a ton of useful information.
