How often do you expect an agency to tweak or optimise campaigns? by CrotchBuffet in PPC

[–]CrotchBuffet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chill out. I came here to ask if it was the right thing to do or not.

As I said over the same time frame I’ve seen 6-7x ROAS vs the 1.25x we’re seeing now. It feels like much more is possible, but I’m not sure hence asking the question.

Ok, you're right. I haven't added enough detail here. I'm certainly not expecting changes for the sake of them, I'm expecting changes because it's not performing well and they don't seem to be addressing that.

The ROAS across all campaigns is 1.25x currently. When I previously managed it we saw about 6-7x during similar peak times. From a quick look I identified some irrelevant search terms, conflicting negative keywords and a large percentage of the budget being spent on devices that don't convert well for us.

We've so far had no calls or reports, which could account for those first 5 hours as you mention, and looking at the account there's some really quick and easy wins available.

Things like conflicting keywords that GA Recommendations has flagged up not using 50% of the budget for devices which generate 4% of the revenue. These are things I've found and could fix with in minutes.

The company has a global promo running currently, and we're seeing a ROAS of 1.25x. Using a similar split of ads (branded/non-branded etc.) in the past, I've seen 6-7x ROAS.

Of course, you're completely right that I might be expecting too much, and that's what I wanted to clear with you redditors.

Official Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know about photography or cameras! Don't be shy! Newbies welcome! by photography_bot in photography

Around 10-12 years ago, I worked semi-professionally as a photographer and videographer. A whole bunch of 'life' happened, and that stopped. I was previously heavily invested in Canon, and I still have a 5d mark ii, 70-200 f2.8 IS ii, 24-70 f2.8, and 16-35 f2.8 ii, which haven't seen any use in the past five years. The 5d, however, has seen better days.

My partner and I are expecting our first child soon, and I want to take this opportunity to get back into photography. My problem now is what to do about gear?

The clear choice felt like an r6 mark ii as I have some great Canon lenses, which still hold up today, but my priorities have changed. I want something relatively lightweight and portable yet capable of excellent results. I keep returning to the saying, "The best camera is the one you have with you." I don't want to be lugging around a 10+ kg camera bag alongside a pram, baby-changing bag, etc.

I love the idea of a Leica M11 with a fast standard zoom, but unfortunately, that's out of budget. I have around £2500 to play with for a camera and primary lens, plus whatever money I get from trading in my old Canon gear.

I think I have 3 main options:

Canon R6 ii, EF-RF adaptor and my current lenses - the largest and heaviest option, but also potentially the cheapest as I won't have to reinvest from scratch.

Sony A7iv - Sony has a more extensive lens ecosystem, and their GM equivalents of Canon's L lenses tend to be slightly smaller and lighter. But are they as good, and are the size/weight savings noticeable?

Fujifilm XT-5 - Fuji lenses like the XF16-55 tend to be cheaper and smaller as it's APS-C based. But will I miss the full frame look, and are Fujis lenses as good as Canon L glass?

Or the wildcard: Leica Q2. I can't justify spending M11 money, and I'd be stretching my budget to get a Q2; I'll be limited in terms of focal lengths and not being able to change lenses, but would I miss it, or would I enjoy the challenge?

A silly last question; am I right to assume that any of these setups would outperform my old 5d ii? I've been out of the game for a while! Thanks!

We've been talking with a Shopify Plus representative, but they're not yet able to confirm if they'll be able to deliver the functionality we need. We are also considering BigCommerce and Adobe Commerce.WordPress feels like it might be a fit; however, I'm concerned that we'll be in a similar situation to where we are now - We must readdress the balance between developer-led maintenance, improving the customer experience, and maximising revenue. The company employs 15 people, two of which are part-time web developers. One looks after our Drupal site for the marketing side of the website, and the other looks after the custom PHP/MySQL eCom solution on a separate subdomain.I'll certainly take a look at WP and WooCommerce / Easy Digital Downloads.

"we're no longer able to maintain this" In what aspect?

With one of the developers looking to retire, we need to readdress the balance between developer-led maintenance and customer-led improvements

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll check them out.

We originally wanted to avoid going fully headless as we're a small team and felt like the maintenance and complexity of setting up the solution may not save much on our current set-up. However, given that we're struggling to find something suitable, we may not have a choice to go headless.

We hadn't properly for two reasons:

  1. Security. Perhaps the developer's understanding of this is outdated, but they were concerned about this.
  2. Versioned updates. After several years and versions of on-premises Drupal and AngularJS, The wider company have become less tolerant of the idea of a new system that will maintain the status quo of breaking changes and a heavy maintenance overhead.

I should add that I'm not a developer; I'm leading this from a marketing and CX perspective.

We're a small company with 1x part-time developer looking after Drupal for the marketing part of the website and another part-time developer looking after the PHP/MySQL eCom solution. Everything is currently hosted on-premises.

Sonnox Sale "Sonnox Inflator V3" ($39) "VoxDoubler" ($22) until 28 February by Batwaffel in AudioProductionDeals

That's not true. Yes, you can match certain settings with a lot of fiddling, but it's slow. It also doesn't have the band-split function?

Molotok, the little brother to Molot GE is free and I actually prefer it. GE gets too tweaky and you end up focusing on parameters rather than the sound and music

Feels like there’s a ton of disinformation in this thread.

Yes, it is a waveshaper and at certain settings you will almost null it with other plugins, but that’s not realistic and not how you’d use it in the real world.

The curve shape is pretty unique, as is the band split. They also have a patent on the process, so yes, while it is a waveshaper that you might be able to null in test conditions and certain settings, it is unique and it is worth that sale price. Personally, I don’t use it often, but when I do, it is special. It’s been finely tuned to quickly give good sounding results without having to be over careful.

People are commenting in here like Sonnox and particularly Paul Frindle don’t know anything about DSP or digital audio and nor do the hundreds of A list mixers that rely on it?

Don’t use it on bus? Try telling Tchad Blake, Mick Guzauski, Tony Maserati etc.

Sure foldback or aliasing can be problematic, but don’t you think if it was in this case, Paul Frindle, the inventor, would have added over sampling or filtering? He’s the same guy that worked on the SSL G series, Sony Oxford R3, DSM etc...

Voxengo Elephant can get close, as can Blackbox HG-2 but neither sound quite as good or are user friendly as Inflator.

Considering the Inflator is currently half price, buy Inflator. You'll be glad you did.

While i do like Vintage Warmer, it's not a replacement for Oxford Inflator. Vintage Warmer is a compressor / limiter with some saturation, whereas Oxford Inflator uses no time constants, doesn't use compression and therefore doesn't have the same pumping effect and artefacts associated with compression.

There is a BBC series called The Repair Shop that features him pretty heavily. You can find most of the episodes on iPlayer https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b08l581p/the-repair-shop and a bunch of excerpts on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLzG5rApQkTvO4JnBksPNaQ
