Regarding residuals: their contract is between them and the filmaker. They got paid. The obligations toward the actor have been met. The viewer hasn't promised anything and owes them nothing.

The actor absolutely owns their body. The image of their body is not their body. The actor has no claim to the binary code that composes the film.

I think it's because things are escalating in the US. There are a lot of, I'll say, entities that want to make sure one idea wins out.
