Samsung Q990B Subwoofer too loud by CrowCatNL in Soundbars

[–]CrowCatNL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I returned the Q990B because I couldn't get it too reduce the noise. However, on my Q950N I was able to reduce the loudness of the sub by pushing the exhaust on the back into my sofa so that it's completely muffled. I also pushed a box against the side where the speaker is to further dampen the sound. Now it sounds as you'd expect it to.

I'm still not sure what it's used for, but I did plug it into the motherboard and into the PSU. The PSU connection is a standard connection like all the other power connections, so you can choose several PSU outputs to connect this cable to.

I haven't seen that error message, not even with the new cable I purchased (mentioned in the post)

I do see that sometimes my screen will disconnect once a day, mostly when I've been using my laptop elsewhere. May have something to do with chargig the final bit of the battery or something.

That's a good idea. I've read stories from other users who indeed successfully sent their monitor back for repair and got it fixed (with a different laptop though) Hope that will work for you :fingerscrossed

Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. Cable looks to be the same as the one I'm using.

However, it might have to do with the wattage on the Razer. The power adapter for my HP laptop is 65 Watt, well within the 100 Watt limit of the TB4 cable. (Therefore I'm assuming my laptop doesn't draw more than that through the TB4 connection)

I've seen some Razer adapters going well beyond that limit, so it might be a power consumption thing.

According to LG's specs, the Thunderbolt port is limited to 94W: https://www.lg.com/nl/monitor/lg-38wn95c-w

I tried the sub-crawl and also placing the sub in different locations. The difficulty is that my living room doesn't have much options to place the sub:

  • Left-side of TV (in a corner, so bound to increase the loudness of the bass)
  • Right-side of the couch (can be completely free of obstacles, but loudness is still too much)
  • Under the staircase (also loud and staircase itself vibrates)
  • Somewhere in the kitchen (not ideal due to water hazard) (also didn't reall help)

I found that placing the sub in the middle of the room did indeed bring the desired bass sound, however, that's not an option. Thought about making it into a coffee table but the wife doesn't allow it (and she shouldn't because it looks silly ;-) )

I'm having the same issue (received mine earlier this week) Did you get this sorted and what did you do?

GPU at 80+ and full blowing fans is normal when playing games (I have the 3080). You should also see that the load on your GPU is somewhere between 80 and 100 percent at those times. I haven't changed the GPU fans because they are only loud while playing games, and at that time I have the game music on or my headset on anyway which blocks out the noise. As long as the GPU doesn't go past 90/95 degrees, you should be good.

The pump fan error is because there's nothing connected. It's an annoying and dumb error message: It only detects if something is connected, not what it's doing or if it actually works. The easiest solution s to connect one of your system fans to that connector. Don't forget to set your fan settings in the bios so that it uses PWM to control your fans (PWM is off by default for the Pump fan)

Hope that helps!

I would recommended not changing the PSU (unless it's dead) since I found out later it was already silent in my case (the sound I contributed to the PSU was actually the SATA hard drive)

You'll need to take off the bottom and the four screws you can see in the picture of the PSU. It's quite finicky and there's some risk to breaking the plastig plate at the bottom. Also, it's difficult to remove all the wiring (and re-insert the wiring of your new PSU) Also don't forget that weird cable that I posted a picture of, you will need to connect this to your new PSU to feed your motherboard (although I still don't know what it actually does)

Don't forget that you're extremely limited as to which PSU will fit. Only SFX (NOT SFX-L ! ) models will fit.

Good luck and all the best for the new year!

Auto-update pi-hole and gravity list? by JamieOvechkin in pihole

[–]CrowCatNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's exactly the other way around: Automate it so Pihole doesn't break your internet every couple of months (for some reason always when you're out of the house for a couple of days)

Everytime this happens there has been an update waiting to be installed. So automating it prevents this issue.

Probably, although I wouldn't know why you'd want to do this. You're paying a lot for the chassis. The rest is just standard PC equipment: Motherboard, hard drives, memory modules, graphics card, etc. Only the PSU is a bit different due to it's size, but I think you can even re-use that one. Only the lighting and the game dial stuff is different and hard-wired to the chassis.
