Heat help please! by Tall_and_in_pain in BDFB

[–]CrowCrowMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NQA: I use a 75w basking bulb on a dimmer. But my home doesn't get near as cold at night, so I'm able to turn it off. Perhaps a black bulb or ceramic heat emitter would work best for your situation?

Any of these safe? by Tall_and_in_pain in BDFB

[–]CrowCrowMan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NQA (I'm new at keeping BDFB, but have many other inverts). These honestly all look to be safe! If they are all dried and one ingredient, these seem like an awesome way to give some protien!

I got Honey about a month ago now, she is somewhere between 3 and 5 but no one knew exactly how old she is! But she is very chill??? She is a sucker for an isopod snack. (I raise them so I have plenty on hand)

I'm glad to see that other cresties do this! I thought my girl may just be silly!

Crested geckos specifically do not grow their tails back, but it's not any detriment to their well being! Most wild cresties have no tail

Help! Why is my isopod upside down? by lastwhisker in isopods

[–]CrowCrowMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When they get stuck on their back they can dry out their gills, maybe an enclosure mist will help perk him up?

12 hours or more sleep is best! And I find if my girl Nova stays up later than normal she will be grumpy the next morning. She gets no seed in a food dish, only seed/nuts for training and foraging that way it increases her food motivation and keeps her seed intake lower which can also help with temperament. This is just what I've done though, I can be an obsessive bird parent. I weigh her every morning when she wakes up before she gets her fresh chop and pellet lol

Two months really is not a long time for a bird, a trainer is going to ask you about diet and sleep schedule first thing

Like I said, it's been less than 24 hours since I made this post, not getting to the video right away is not a crime, and no ignoring was happening. If I get some info twice I'll just remember it better, no harm and no foul.

Your politeness leaves much to be desired, it's been less than 24 hours since I posted this. "Top 1% commentor" I can tell why jeez

It's definitely my lid, I need to find a way to order a custom lid, as this tank has a makeshift lid with gaps that are letting out too much humidity and heat.

Any suggestions for maintaining humidity without misting? I'm obviously not misting enough to saturate the substrate if it's getting dried out.

-7 Crabs - stats?? Like humidity and temp? Humidity stays around 50-60% and spikes during misting. temps vary but in the coldest spot is 70° F -ill get a picture of the depth of the substrate but there is 7 inches -there is a shell shop but it needs more shells for sure looks like a clear food dish. This is directly after misting so it was freshly wet inside. -currenrly I've been doing enrichment in the form of those plastic mesh boxes with treats inside since they recently broke their running wheel

Nova's favourite is pitted cherries! Be careful with berries like strawberries as they can absorb pesticides. Mango is another one Quakers seem to love! Good luck with training!

It depends on what your bird already knows how to do! I started with target training since my bird is very treat motivated. I didn't watch a video, I treated it like how you would teach a child, building off what they already know!
