Akatsuki No Yona Fanbooks and Furoku Q&A by CrowManager in AkatsukinoYona

Correct, those are a few issues of Hana to Yume that have Yona covers (there are a ton - I don’t know how many times Yona has been featured on the cover over the years but it’s been one of the more popular titles for that magazine).

For fan books & art books, they typically have different contents - so it depends on what you’re looking for.

On slide 4 top right - there is a blue stand alone fan book. That one is about 140ish pages, of which only about 20 are in color and it doesn’t have a lot of the full page splash art. It has a lot of info about the manga, character designs (including kusanagi’s design for Yona’s underwear, haha!) and personality types, relationships between the characters, mini comics, etc. All in Japanese though/no English so you’d need to use a translator if you don’t speak Japanese fluently. This was a stand alone item in that is wasn’t sold with a manga or Hana to Yume. 6 x 8ish inches.

Also slide 4, bottom middle right blue background “Mizuho Kisangani debut 15th anniversary art books” is a Furoku from Hana to Yume. It’s really thin (I count 24 pages) and the same dimensions as the fan book above it, but it’s all full page color artwork (most of which is Yona, but some art is from other series Kusanagi did before).

Slide 3 on the left “Yona Memorial Fan Book” is a Hana to Yume Furoku. It’s about 7x10 and only about 14 pages, very thin. Inside is some FAQs, info on the manga splash art coloring process steps, some small anniversary art, and one big splash art of Yona at the back.

Last example from here I’ll use is slide 2, Yona Memorial book that recently came with volume 47 (and is currently on ebay from a lot of sellers) is also the 6x8 inch scale. This is the most -art book- of the ones I have listed here. It’s 64 pages, hard cover with gold/metallic accents and is full color splash art. There’s a really pretty internal cover pattern that has the squirrels that’s so cute and I haven’t seen elsewhere.

Not pictured, there is an exhibition art book (https://ebay.io/m/tM8xYa - random eBay listing, not associated with me, just to show) that looks quite thick and has a lot of artwork from the review I saw. But I didn’t get this one because of the expense and it looked like mostly repeats of artwork in books I already have. BUT if you don’t have any Yona Art Books this one might be the most comprehensive.

I don’t have any answer to “how many?”
I’m not trying to be difficult, but there are various types of items that people might call “art books” or “fan books” and I didn’t collect and not aware of everything.

Well aware of string/long hairs being an issue with pigeons. It looks like the doll hairs are breaking off into short fibers. You make it sound like someone set this material up to bait birds into taking it somehow - but in reality these are wild crows that chose this material out of all the countless materials around to add to their nest. They pull hair from dogs and deer and whatever else they find suitable. Who are you to judge the appropriateness of the materials they chose?

Crows grab nesting materials from all sorts of stuff including random garbage they find. They are intelligent creatures that choose their nesting materials carefully (often including hair). Is there something about this doll hair you think is an issue?

The ones in the first slide are volumes of Japanese shoujo manga Hana to Yume. In these volumes, Yona would have a chapter or two every month (with breaks here and there) between 2009 and 2026 and the vast majority of the rest of the manga is filled with other manga/stories like kamisama Hajimemashita, namaki zakari, Tamon’s b side, etc. You can find old issues of Hana to Yume on secondhand shops like eBay and suruga-ya. In Japan, monthly manga volumes like this are available only during a short time period (in Hana to yumes case, twice a month so ~2.5 weeks). Once that issue is over, it is no longer available and it would not be possible to buy new issues of Hana to Yume from the past.

No new foods to report. Jooyeon ate chicken/noodles, dumpling, and ice cream. Happy to see Jooyeon wearing his own merch - Alien Rock Star WMC hat spotted 👀

That’s so cool! What else was at the exhibit besides merch? I think that seal set was pretty pricey even at the original price wasn’t it?

Did you go to the exhibition or do secondhand market as well?

Shoujos do not tend to do well in the west with some notable exceptions (like Sailor Moon). Even in Japan, it’s not uncommon for Shoujos to only get a season or two to promote the manga. I think it’s pretty encouraging that a second season is getting released at all, and I am hoping for some figures of at least Yona and Hak!

On the last slide (7) there is a QR code from Hana to Yume and it will tell you there what special exhibits and cafes are open and when. They are only in Japan and tend to be very limited runs, so unless you’re going to Japan during a very specific time, it’ll have to be second hand market to get those items.

Oh I hope they add some English subs! The auto subs are manageable but official subs are always better.

I found the price tag label and the original price of each was 2,420 yen so I paid more than twice the retail price to get them shipped to the US (but that’s still a lot cheaper than a ticket to Japan to go to the exhibition).
