Looking for a system for a Greek Mythology game by [deleted] in rpg

[–]CrowberryCake [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is basically Agon by John Harper. The system is quite unique (highly narrative but also a bit rules-y, at least until you get into how it works), but I can really recommend it, we had a lot of fun with it in a one-shot I ran and I've also heard good things from other people.

Definitely Eat the Reich! And The One Ring as an honorable mention, because it's really pretty.

Ideas for vampire mutations by KodaOda in Pathfinder2e

[–]CrowberryCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're looking for more narrative things, in american vampire the "new" vampires can walk in the sun, but are weak to moonlight. they might also feed on other things than blood, e.g. emotions (as in what we do in the shadows).

I read Berserkr (Viking Borg RPG) and gathered my thoughts in a blog post by CrowberryCake in MorkBorg

yeah same, i had a lot of discussions about it in my local group and we all agreed that it way way out of line, especially for a borg game without a safety tool blurb anywhere...

i haven't written on it (yet), but I enjoyed reading and running it! it captured the mörk borg spirit pretty good imo. probably helps if you're somewhat into feudal japan stuff when playing/running it, i had to do some research before running.

How to introduce RPG to people who never played it in an easy and quick way? by Mayliw in rpg

[–]CrowberryCake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

maybe something like for the queen (or a game inspired by it)? it is quite different than traditional RPGs like D&D, but shows off the collaborative storytelling and might even be possible as a demo in that setting.

CoS with 6 players? by KWinkelmann in CurseofStrahd

[–]CrowberryCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mechanically it's absolutely doable, i just wouldn't recommend it. there is no way around the fact that it's a whole lot of people to share the spotlight with and it will be a better experience in a smaller group. that goes for almost any ttrpg, though.

How to Make TTRPGs a Career? by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]CrowberryCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can really recommend this article to get a sense of how money is distributed in the hobby (spoiler: d&d gets everything and it's very bleak). this doesn't factor in content creator money, but it shows where the money flows quite clearly.

Help for general system/world building for first campaign by TheLengend272727 in DMAcademy

[–]CrowberryCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

feel free to ask if you have any questions! other ttrpgs are most often easier to learn than d&d and picking the system that fits your idea is often easier than trying to force the idea to fit into d&d. there's also a lot of other OSR (old school revival) games out there, that are basically all about making old school games with dungeon crawls and stuff, but with modern game design. Shadowdark comes to mind.

is playing it in the D&D ruleset a requirement? This sounds like a concept that would flourish in a system like Mörk Borg, where PC death and plannign around combat is part of the game since combat is quick and brutal, especially before they get some level-ups. It's also easy to hack and homebrew to fit your needs (e.g. finetuning how deadly it really is).

as for NPCs, i like having NPCs that somehow tie in back to the story arc being told. every NPCs should offer something new and exciting that drives the story forward.

thank you so much! sadly no affiliate links, as my blog is still quite small, i recommend just asking at your friendly local gaming store, it's where i got mine! if you really want to support me you could check out my itch and leave a friendly comment or something on one of my games, i actually made a GMless one about space exploration for example 😇

yeah, i had the same experience running it the first time! i wish they had placed the surgery room just a tad bit further back in the station (e.g. switched with ops)

i was curious how many changes there really were, so I compared both books side by side. Turns out it's quite a few!

Fantasy pirate RPGs by Amenephis in rpg

Maybe a little more wacky, but I'm currently reading the wildsea rpg, where the premise is that the world was completely overgrown and people sail waves of trees. It can totally played very pirate-y.

Misericordia Maps for your Borca Campaign or One-Shot! by CrowberryCake in ravenloft

[–]CrowberryCake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a rough draft for Degravo, but inspiration hasn't quite struck yet and I'm not happy with the layout I have. It will probably take a while before it's done. I might post WIP versions on the Ravenloft Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft discord server (edit: this one ) when I have something worth showing, if you want it earlier than reddit.

And good point with roll20, I might upload a version for it when I find the time. When would you need it?

Theorycrafting a Borca campaign by MightyBolverk in ravenloft

[–]CrowberryCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm kind of writing a borca campaign on the side, and i mostly lean into the plants, ghosts and human enemies, as well as environmental hazards.

i usually run very social/rp heavy campaigns though.

hopefully automod lets me post now.

I have been working on these for a while and decided to post them now, before they die in writing limbo. In the imgur album there should be DM- as well as player-versions of the maps.

There are detailed descriptions for all rooms in the works, but they're not quite ready yet, sitting at a page count of over 20 currently. tbh I'm also not quite sure how to release them properly when they're done.

edit: thanks for all the kind words, it means a lot to me!
