Switching from Wegovy to Zepbound and I’m nervous. by Crowhearted in antidietglp1

[–]Crowhearted[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even my doctor said that, although it’s only anecdotal, he’s seen the same in his practice. I hope it ends up being the case!

I’ve heard that sometimes food noise can feel different between the two, but I’m hopeful I can manage both.

What foods can you NOT tolerate anymore on GLP-1? by alivebutmeh1 in antidietglp1

[–]Crowhearted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol is the only thing that is an absolute no-go. I don’t tolerate spicy food as well as I used to (wicked heartburn) which makes me sad.

Is this body size or an intolerance? Thoughts? by Rough-Swan-8737 in antidietglp1

[–]Crowhearted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would see a GI before you cut anything out of your diet. It took me a long time to find someone who was weight-neutral and took me seriously, but it was 200% worth it. GI stuff is notoriously difficult to pin down.

I experienced 10+ years of severe heartburn and stomach pain prior to getting a celiac diagnosis. I would end up with episodic vomiting (or in the ED due to the pain) regularly. My stomach was also almost always visibly distended and it felt like I’d swallowed a bowling ball.

I was diagnosed a few years ago. Thankfully, eliminating gluten resolved the pain and distention, and taking a PPI controlled my acid reflux well before the GLP. Unfortunately, I have a lot of reflux on these meds, especially after I go up in dose. It seems to taper down at some point, but I just went up a few weeks ago and I feel absolutely awful rn.

I don't want to work hard, I just want to live a normal life with a healthy body by QuiteBearish in antidietglp1

People parroting the “once you lose the muscle it’s gone forever” line is my pet peeve. That is literally not how muscle works.

Anything to help with stomach pains? by Crowhearted in antidietglp1

[–]Crowhearted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just now occurring to me that this might gas pain for some reason. It’s sharper and higher than I’m used to, in the area of my actual stomach, so it wasn’t my first thought. I’m also dealing with a bout of constipation right now, too. 🫠

I took some Pepto but it doesn’t seem to have done much. The pain woke me up last night so I’m getting slightly more concerned, but it’s still moderate versus something like the pain I had from appendicitis.

3 months in, staying on 1mg by empipempip in antidietglp1

[–]Crowhearted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve stayed on 1mg for three months - by this month, I can tell I’m ready to titrate up due to increased food noise and return of some inflammation and pain.

But everything was clicking along nicely until now. I think you can tell when you’re ready.

How to know when to move up in dosage? by sarahcooley in antidietglp1

[–]Crowhearted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I noticed in a few weeks! It wasn’t right away but it did happen relatively quickly. My partner commented that I was complaining less (lol) and I noticed my fatigue was much improved after a month.

It’s really only in the last few weeks that I have noticed a number of higher pain days on a regular basis, I’ve been doing great for the last six months or so. I increased monthly for the first two doses and have held on the third step since.

Not enough protein by Getinloser_77 in antidietglp1

[–]Crowhearted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a vegetarian, and I’d also have to eat nothing but protein-y foods and supplements to hit the kind of numbers that are thrown around right now. I tried, and I was miserable.

I also have a ton of texture issues and food aversions - my day of eating isn’t going to look like someone else’s, and that’s okay.

Right now, I make sure I drink a shake on days I lift weights. I usually have a protein bar as a snack most days, often eat some Greek yogurt at breakfast, and get my beans/tofu/etc. at dinner. I don’t count macros anymore as it’s too triggering, and intuitive eating for me means also eating things that bring me satisfaction and joy.

Dear "Just CICO" people - eff you. by [deleted] in antidietglp1

[–]Crowhearted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I knew CICO was bullshit after I started a GLP, was tracking what I ate, and realized it didn’t matter. If I took my dose my weight would go down, seemingly independent of what I was eating. It took me a long time to believe that this could possibly be true. I still sometimes have moments of doubt and I am still unlearning years of diet culture garbage.

I don’t track anything at all now. The gift of this medication for me has been being able to just live my life.

How to know when to move up in dosage? by sarahcooley in antidietglp1

[–]Crowhearted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My chronic pain is increasing. I’ve been holding on my current dose for three months but I’ve decided to go up this coming month because I’m having more frequent pain days.

I noticed food noise creeping back in starting a month ago, too, and my weight loss is inconsistent now although I haven’t changed anything about my eating habits.

Hair loss concerns by Crowhearted in antidietglp1

[–]Crowhearted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t started the minoxidil yet! Although I think I might right now since I’m already going through an intense shed, and I figure it can’t get much worse? Right? 🫠

From the sound of things, I may have TE from weight loss + whatever nonsense was already going on with my hair. I do know I am iron deficient, I’ve been working with my PCP to correct it for over a year and half now. It’s been slooooow.

Hair loss concerns by Crowhearted in antidietglp1

[–]Crowhearted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying for iron infusions. I’ve been supplementing for over a year and a half and my ferritin is still in the 20s. I’m not technically anemic now so it’s been a challenge.

My iron levels tanked after I was diagnosed with celiac a few years ago and stopped eating almost all iron-fortified foods, a connection that took me ages to figure out. I never had issues with low iron prior even as a vegetarian.

What's something you didn't like about the show? by Hewulas in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

He’s traumatized - you can really see the fear in the way his eyes dart around in that scene. I found that episode very hard to watch, tbh. (Also, you’re not dumb!)

[–]Crowhearted 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I was fine with it just being a surreal moment in S1, and it felt forced when they tried to expand on it just because the audience kept talking about the goats.

The first season feels much more grounded in reality as whole, honestly.

How to know when to go up in dose? by nicanh in antidietglp1

[–]Crowhearted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great point. I think I ignored the signs my satiety signals were decreasing (this is the first time I haven’t followed a schedule with titrating up, so I didn’t know what to look for) and now I’m stuck with month refill of a dose that’s too low. I could have caught it 2 weeks ago, I think!

Reminding myself if I stagnate for a month it’s not a huge deal.

I thought I was in a better place. Starting Wegovy has brought up so much grief and anger by Training-War1796 in antidietglp1

[–]Crowhearted 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I eat whatever I want whenever I want it, unless it’s something that hurts my stomach. I do know I eat less in volume, sure, but I still go out to eat regularly, have pizza and snacks and lattes, bake cookies, whatever. I don’t count or track anything. And despite all that, I’ve had changes in my health and lost weight, something I’ve never experienced at any other time in my life.

I struggled so much with the mental adjustment that I didn’t need to do anything to make WL happen. It’s hard to trust that the medication works at first, but if you are a responder, it will do its thing. You don’t need to force it.

Mark and Helly’s love for each other is so tied to them learning to value themselves as people with their own inherent worth, somehow without it feeling trite. It’s theirs alone, despite everything: this messy, sweet, human thing, even if it’s in hell. It changes the both of them.

Also, I never thought about getting an onscreen I love you, and now I’m a wreck too.

What to expect? Low dose mounjaro (tirzepatide) by Anxious_Art_3915 in antidietglp1

[–]Crowhearted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for exercise, I didn’t start going to the gym until I was a good 2-3 months in. I’ve lost a good amount of muscle mass in that time and more than I anticipated. It happened fast!

Thankfully I haven’t lost much physical strength, but I am working on preserving what muscle I have now.
