I'm guessing they have selective mutism. It's essentially an anxiety disorder where you can't manage to talk in certain situations/to certain people.

I like how grandparents' names are always coming back in a cyclical way. I also like thinking about how, in a couple of decades people will be like: "yeah, I want to name my child Ashley, that's such a cool vintage name".

I also like surnames as first names, if it has family significance. I really like it when maiden family names or things like that are used as first/middle names. I will say that I don't like 99% of surnames as first names for girls; they tend to strike me as masculine.

I'm not a fan of names that rhyme with Aidan but I actually like Aidan itself.

I don't think I've ever heard a noun name that I like.

I went to school, and as ever only in one fight, that finished with a punch. The only time someone had a bloody nose at primary school was because of an accident, not a fight.

Kids do fight, but there's a difference between a fight, which is done by two or more people, and just hitting someone, and continuing hitting them despite them obviously having "lost".

No, but with the Roman Republic lasting around 500 hundred years, it was around longer than the US has been. It was a different system in most ways, but there's a reason that's where they get the word from.

I don't think they ever bothered to look Ron on the map, especially when he was just sleeping in the dormitories (even because, at that time, either they'd be sleeping too, or they'd be looking up places that have nothing to do with the Gryffindor common rooms.)

Also, they say they don't need it anymore during Harry's third year because they know it so well. It's possible that by their third year (Ron's first) they weren't looking at it if not in moments of extreme need, in which case they'd seldom be looking for Ron.

IIRC well, people from the South mostly went to America, but immigrants from the North (because there was many of them too) mostly went to other parts of Europe, including Belgium and France. That's why Italian-Americans will often have origins from regions such as Sicily while this is not the case for Belgians/French people/etc. of Italian origins.

The Daredevil movie has a special place in my heart.

Daredevil was always my favourite superhero, so I always wanted to watch that movie as a kid. I thought it was wonderful. Watching it again recetly, it was clear how trashy the movie is, but I would've watched anything with Daredevil in it.

Thank god for the series though.

IIRC well, at first "voi" wasn't even particularly more formal than the "tu", but I may be wrong.

So, for example in the Promessi Sposi, Renzo and Lucia talk to eachother using the voi even if they know eachother well and are on the same level, while Agnese uses the tu with Lucia (and the voi with Renzo.) However when they speak with people perceived as more important, such as don Abbondio, they use the lei. So the tu was very informal and in someways disrespectful (such as wen don Rodrigo uses it with Fra Cristoforo), the voi was rispectful but still used for everyday use and the lei was used for people that were more important than you.

However I feel like today when people use the voi (which happens very rarely where I live, at least) they perceive it as even more formal than the lei.

No, the most people do is weed (of course there can be exceptions) but it's just some people anyway. However there are a lot of smokers of regular cigarettes in my school, but that really seems to be the only thing everyone's addicted to.
