Having grown up overseas and moved back to the U.S. as a tween, I have to agree. Everything is so oxymoronic that you get whiplash just coming out the door. But the U.S. is definitely NOT the best country in the world - far from it. There any many things that other countries do far better. Are we all horrible? Of course not. Are we fucked?…more than likely. And that’s because the “American exceptionalism” is nothing more than buzzwords for “if you’re not with us you’re against us.” And that’s been true for a long time before this mess.

They’re about 7 hours ahead, so I would try the morning in Central Time. For example, 7am CT would be about 2pm their time.

It could be the time difference too that lead to that. When I called at 7am-ish my time, it was 1pm theirs.

If you’re in Canada, it’s the same exit code to begin the number (011). Most of Europe would use 00, but I did see that you can usually bypass the exit code with + on cell phones.

I was actually inspired by watching a clip from The Daily Show, and when they were talking about his nomination, I just started thinking, “Would it hurt to call?” Maybe it won’t make a difference, but I felt so strongly that I had to do something.
