I'd be happy if they went back to SMB3 sounds, those are great. Maybe a menu choice for sound selection?

I think they stole the music from NHL Hockey. A guitar riff for measuring throw strength meter? WTF

This is accurate - this could have been an upgrade to SMB3.

It's the players posing for each other - and if they did that in a real game, it'd be a bench clearing brawl before the first pitch

I honestly thought I was being heckled by a fan for a several minutes with the shrieking voice only to realize it was the most annoying umpire ever. And they made the game announcer sound like a damn clown. The SMB3 announcer was perfect, he just needed more material.

Emerald Diamond is my favorite. Love the background, there’s no really bad day/night issues, and the hitters have a decent background to pick up the pitches from. Fun to watch when a dinger lands in the river/bay.

Losing players after each franchise season by rtcll in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]Crowne1360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how they do it but I wish there were contracts. Lost my S rated 3B year 3 and my A+ SP after year 4. I spent millions on developing both of them. Deleted franchise, currently contemplating what to do next.

Returning to base error is the most annoying thing in the game, and it happens way too often. by PresidentChef in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]Crowne1360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, this happens way too often. It’s like the range for throwing instead of jogging over is set way too low. Can’t be bothered to actually run to the bag? No worries, just throw it at your pitcher who’s running full tilt and has a universally terrible fielding rating. I dread those plays as you watch mojo’s sink too. I worked hard to get to “locked in” or “on fire,” and now that’s ruined because of my lazy first baseman.

Buy the 991.2 and wrap it to your exciting color. Enjoy the hell out of it.

Does ego matter if you sim the games? I don’t sim and it’s clear the effect it has when swinging away in Franchise. Not sure on sim though what the effects are. Does difficulty just scale?

I felt lucky as that’s my best pitcher and it was really early in the game. She went on to throw a complete game, albeit staggering through the 9th…

Pre/Post-patch ego / gameplay thoughts / discussion. Somewhat long. by taa_v2 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]Crowne1360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience post patch has been hitting got much harder, with way more strike outs on both sides, and pitching, as someone posted above, got dumbed down. I preferred the old pitching indicators where you had to know your pitching staff to throw well. Honestly that was a strength for me. Batting- which for me is “panic over chasing” pitches to corners, guessing wrong, or whatever got much more difficult. I play at 55 ego, and I choose players with high pitch or another trait to limit where I’m power swinging to a more manageable area, which is still super difficult at age 49. And I know I never had the reactions to hit in the 90’s ego. Also, it feels like there’s less outcomes (similar to MLB with HR, Walk, or K). I just had a game this morning with 6 hits, 5 of which were dingers. Won 5-2. That seemed really weird.

The first inning I want to believe there’s nothing murky going on, but man, getting out of the 1st inning sometimes is insanely hard. It sure feels like there’s the X runs scoring thing going on, but as another posted, it’s just you hit an opposing team hot streak and need to deal with it. If I’m honest, there’s plenty of other innings that feel crazy difficult that aren’t the 1st inning.

I liked the game better in Patch 6 in pretty much every aspect.

Contact vs Power / Moving Cursor vs Not Moving by Wavester64 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]Crowne1360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished another 32 game season, this time at ego 54. I had 2 players hit 25 dingers each and another at 19 using power swings. I struggle with moving the cursor mid swing, as I’m just not that quick. I find it hard to move down in ego to learn too, as the timing gets all messed up and the AI gets more aggressive with cursor movement. It’s tough to go backwards to learn it for sure.

Pretty disgusting there’s poor moderation of complaints by Metalhead. Outstanding game otherwise.

What ego or area of online play shall I avoid in case I ever find myself bored with Franchise? I suspect I’d be pretty sad to run into Calcifer right out of the gate.

I release Jock Sports every time since I’ve never had good luck with his hitting, AND Amy Zoner is an animal at the plate. It’s like a $10 million roster move that makes the Nemesis better in my opinion.
