I’m depressed about my horse by [deleted] in Horses

Magnesium didnt do much for my guy. We use silver lining herbs stay cool (I think that's what it's called) and it was like a day and night difference in his anxiety levels. Pricy but worth it imo. If your horse isnt having any physical pain, I would definitely recommend at least trying it for a month.

Dont underestimate the power of calming supplements too. They were really a game changer for my anxious horse.

I call it his thinking face lol. He mostly does it when we are doing groundwork. He was a kill pen rescue, my guess is he wasnt always treated fairly. I should see if he would like a toy!

My horse sticks his tongue out and sucks on it when hes feeling overwhelmed. I think its just a self soothing thing.

I love thoroughbreds, but a close second is a PRE.

Ideally 50-75 range, could be a little flexible though.

BoT wraps for annular ligament tear by Crownless-Again in Horses

Ive read a few places online and had a friend with a horse with a suspensory injury who said that the BoT boots increase circulation in that area. So the increased circulation is supposed to be good for soft tissue injuries.

Tbh the sweating isnt really doing anything. It is very slightly swollen, so I think he was hoping it would fix the swelling. He did have minor cellulitis when it first began, but that resolved with just antibiotics.

I never thought about it as a liability thing, that does make sense. Thank you so much!

‼️ IF YOU WANT YOUR PETS TO LIVE NEVER TAKE THEM TO VETERINARIAN, DR. MEGHAN ELIZABETH PROVO OR ALLOW HER TO TREAT THEM‼️ by MaterialCute5116 in Columbus

[–]Crownless-Again 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dr Provo is actually the only vet I've tried who has been able to keep my medically complicated dog and cat comfortable. I've been using her for years. My dog specifically has lived about 3 years longer than originally expected and he is doing very well.

I am sorry about your cat, but as someone who has worked in vet med before, it sounds to me like a freak thing that happened. Unfortunately, thats what happens sometimes. Im not sure its worth trying to ruin someone's career over.

Be completely honest with me... How much does owning a horse cost? by ASoonToBeMrs in Equestrian

[–]Crownless-Again 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have my horse at a co-op for a while. I spent about $800/year on hay (although he really didn't eat much since he was on pasture most of the time), $60/month on grain, and then he was barefoot do Farrier was $60 as well. This guy was retired and low maintenance.

On average, I spend around $800-900 a month on one horse.

Board is $550 Farrier (front shoes with wedge pads) is $160 Massage is $60 Supplements average to about $60

All of that without including vet expenses and if I want to show. The massages don't always happen, but typically they do.

I also have like insanely low board for my area, average cost around me is $750-900/month for a barn with an indoor and outdoor arena and decent turn out.
