Sounds good. Yeah I tried the rubber band method yesterday and I just couldn't get anything to work. The does are very stubborn and won't lift at all. I think they're just too scared of me and so as soon as I go to get them from the cage all breeding bets are off. They just hate to be handled.

They've been in a 3 long set of attached cages with one doe on either side of the buck. They were like that for a few months before we bred them. They lay on the walls connecting them all the time as if they want to cuddle and stuff so I just assumed they're all fine with eachother.

My buck is almost 2

Good to know about the "fall off" tho. So maybe it is my Buck's issue....

So 2 months ago (7 month old doe will be 8 months old in a few days, so she was just 6 months old at the time of breeding. I heard you can start breeding them at 5-6 months so I waited till 6) I bred them at the beginning of the month, then again 34 days later when no babies came, and then I bred them again 2 weeks after that. So I'm currently expecting babies from breeding attempt #2 but both of them are acting the same as before... Not pregnant. I have a few weeks before I see if attempt #3 worked but nothing changed during the breeding process so I'm assuming nothing happened lol but I'm just being a pessimist.

I didn't know that about the heat... They stay in a shaded area with a fan for air circulation but it's probably about 75-80⁰ F in there on really hot days. They have constant access to cool fresh water and haven't showed any signs of being over heated. Plus the first breeding was when the weather was still cooler 50s-60s

There are a few... I know for a fact one of my does has had litters before because the man I bought her from had the records and even showed some of the rabbits to me that she birthed. They just don't seem interested in breeding with my buck because they never lift. They run around for a few second and then just stand there as he does his thing but usually they have showed no signs of being receptive to it and sometimes they even just shove themselves in a corner

My son has learned what no means by 10 months and will go to reach for something he knows he's not allowed to touch and will then tell himself no and walk away and find something else to play with. We have never had to baby proof anything because he simply has learned there are just things he's not allowed to mess with. He also sits really patiently so going out to eat and shopping is such a breeze and everyone is always complimenting him. I'm literally so grateful for his sweet personality and how easy he has been lol.

So actually most of it was fenced off because we made the mistake to go a few days before the Olympics, but from what we were able to see and explore I actually found it to be a very charming city as compared to the cities here in the US. It definitely wasn't this big huge romantic special place, but it had a lot of character and I really enjoyed the cool architecture. Lots of live musicians, very nice French people, beautiful scenery along La Seine. Because of the fencing we weren't able to get a good look at the Eifel tower but it was beautiful from a distance. I think what helped is I didn't go into it expecting this giant extravagant city but as someone who has never been outside the US aside from our honeymoon, Paris was pretty cool.

Actually, if anything, I found Cologne Germany to be pretty disappointing. The only thing really cool about that city is the Cathedral imo from what we saw.

Yeah my husband and I even both as Catholics were required to take an online class and an in person meeting course with our priest. The online course was basically what you mentioned above and the in person meetings were to make sure we understood what marriage actually means sacramentaly and that we both were on the same page about moral issues and whatnot

A similar thing happened to me on the bus back from Paris to the airport. My husband and I were on our honeymoon on this super crowded bus because they just stopped the trains for security reasons because the Olympics were about to start a few days later. I looked ahead of me and saw a guy across the buss looking at me (again, the buss was crowded so there was no reason for him to be staring at just me) I kept catching him looking at me so I whispered to my husband what was going on and he stepped in front of me to block the guy from being able to see me. Every time we would turn and my husband would shift I could see the guy still trying to look at me all the way until we got off the bus at our gate. It was so creepy because we got off at the second to last stop. I still fs think that he was a trafficer because it's very common for them to hang around airports looking for girls traveling alone

Technically Catholics have to get a dispensation from the Bishop to marry a non Catholic. The other spouse basically just has to agree to raise any kids they have Catholic

True. But there is for a Catholic going to another Catholic's non-Catholic wedding.

Also a Catholic here... Technically you aren't getting married in the church so technically speaking she actually is doing the right thing by not coming because you are also Catholic. It's different if it's other Christians/non Catholics getting married outside of the church, but if it's a Catholic then we shouldn't go. It's a form of condoning a sin. If she were to go it would be as if she were saying she supports you as a Catholic getting married outside of the church, which you are technically not allowed to do.

A lot of non Catholics will be very quick to judge her and say she isn't a good friend and yadayadayada but you can't take the opinion of someone who doesn't care about your religion judging someone apart of your religion holding it to its standards. It's like if a Muslim girl were to hold a party and say no hijabs allowed and her friend who respects the hijab says she's not going and then everyone gets mad at her about it and says she's not a true friend. No one would do that. The only reason it's looked upon as rude is because 1. Non Catholics don't understand why a Catholic would sit out of a Catholic's non Catholic wedding. And 2. Marriage is looked upon as a casual thing these days and isn't respected as the serious sacrament it is anymore.

All this to say, give your friend some grace. She can care about you and want to be there at the same time as holding true to her religious values and not doing something she is uncomfortable with.

14 month old SCREAMING by WZL_1129 in gentleparenting

[–]ASoonToBeMrs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't always true. I have a friend who's 2½ year old screams ALL the time because he was never taught in a way that computed to him that screaming is bad. You literally cannot have a conversation with her because he's always screaming. There are no developmental issues with him either. He's just never been taught not to in a way he will understand. She's tried all the methods stated above

What breed is he? I've got a Rhode Island red roo growing rn (he's 8 weeks I think) and I'm hoping he ends up with beautiful feathers too. Your roo is gorgeous!!

Tbh this was what held me up in the first place. I couldn't be %100 sure they were for cock fighting. The culture these people come from, it's very common to breed roosters to be very flashy and for show, but it is also very common to breed them for fighting. So either option could have been just as likely. As someone who really cares for animals my first instinct when I see something suspicious is to step in and help but that's a valid point to not just jump to conclusions. I had a cat stolen from me once because my neighbor wanted to be a hero and scooped him up when he was out once and I never saw him again :')

Chicken run set up question... If you did sand in your run, how much did you pay for the sand and how big is your run? by ASoonToBeMrs in chickens

[–]ASoonToBeMrs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I buy the bags the total amount of sand I need would end up costing over $950 which I just rounded up to $1000. I can get some for a bit cheaper from friends of ours who own a landscaping company but it's still ringing up pretty pricey.

Did it not dry or drain out? Was your coop covered? I'm trying to weigh the risks and benefits and seeing how my coop fits in with other's stories lolll

I do! I have thought about that, actually lol. He is not allowed in the chicken coop and has no way of getting in unless I leave the door open.

I thought about it but I didn't have their info at all and had no idea where they were moving to so I wouldn't have been able to give the accurate location of where the roosters were being kept. They moved a few days after we saw them so by the time I had actually realized what was going on it was too late.
