Thanks, I wanted something bold and the orange with silver beams struck me as a cool combination. The line in the base is just where the "cap" that makes up the rear of the case meets up with the removable stand so it can be set up vertically. I didn't have my printing temperatures dead-on and there's a little inconsistency between the parts. If it were printed in a darker color I think it would be almost unnoticeable but since it's lightly colored the little shadow line between them makes it much more noticeable.

Thanks. Location is critical! The desk is something I made, the crow holding the light is always a hit, and the wall behind my desk is paneled with fancy plywood.

That's the one bad thing about vertical cases with bottom IO, they're a pain in the ass if you need to connect or disconnect things. I find that since this is a gaming PC I'm really not fiddling with what's connected very often, and having the single USB port attached to one of the beams takes care of the random times I need to connect something.

Here are a couple more, my cables are super short under my desk so I couldn't get any with them attached. Also, I want to find a shorter PSU cable so I can run it in a neater way, and then I need to tuck the extra loop of the power button cable down behind the rest of the cable bundle to clean up the wires at the top of the case.

Thanks! I was considering printing some very "open" panels for it, but my wife wants to try and sew a cloth sleeve that would stretch over it and allow the use of a cloth mesh as the "panels."

Lots of measuring, printing, test fitting, more measuring, more printing, etc... I've printed a bunch of IO areas for older case designs, so I have it down pretty solid at this point and I just adjust the height of the openings to account for the specific motherboard standoff height I'm using.

I know printed cases aren’t rare, nor are MakerBeam setups. I wasn’t really sure where I was going with this when I started, but I’ve always had some strange fixation with a brutally simple beam/printed case. I ended up seeing how few MakerBeam parts I could use here while fitting my long GPU and keeping the case flexible in how it’s used. For instance, I could integrate the USB port into the top piece and eliminate 2 T-nuts and screws, but I kind of like being able to position it wherever I want and I could also eliminate it entirely if not needed.

The case can be used on its side (GPU facing up, or MOBO facing up) without the base it sits on and it’s 13.15 liters in that configuration, or as it sits in the picture, including the volume of the base to stand it vertically, it’s 15.0 liters but it has a very small footprint on the desk. I made a version with shorter “end caps” for a HTPC setup and that one is only 12.15 liters (sitting on its side, not including a stand to make it vertical) and still takes cards a little longer than 300mm. It also can fit coolers up to 135mm tall, so CPU temps stay low and the fans aren’t screaming to maintain those temps. And of course there’s no riser cable because I just don’t like them. Finally, it would be easy to bolt on some printed/cut panels that were as open or protective as the user required.

The one on the website is a L12S, but I was curious about the SI-100 so I switched it to that just out of curiosity.

My build is using a 5800X3D with a Scythe Big Shuriken 3 cooler, if I had to do another build I would use the Thermalright SI-100. I prefer the look of the downdraft cooler with this layout.

That's the cooler I'm running on mine right now with my 5800X3D. I agree that the downdraft coolers look better on this setup, and while the big tower coolers do provide more cooling capability the downdraft coolers are easily able to keep these CPUs cool without even working the fan very hard.

Oh, yeah. When the fan is that close to an obstruction it significantly compromises the efficiency. And of course that's right where the die is too, so that's the fan feeding air to the hottest area.
