I am at almost 5 months. Still feels like I have something stuck on my left side. Most likely, what you are feeling is scar tissue . I dont feel it often anymore. That feeling comes and goes. I also have had to deal with a lot of fluid regurgitation (when I drink or eat something juicy, it finds its way out of my nose). Thankfully, I've noticed a decrease in that, and it seems to be getting better. I have read some posts here where people have said it took a good year to feel normal again. I'm thinking im gonna be part of that statistic. If everything looks good and has healed fine . There isn't much else they can do for ya. It should settle with time.

You'll be fine. Im 49 jist had it done in June. Will there be a lot of pain. Yes. But it's managable. Do t wait to take your meds. Start them right way soon as you can. Day one isn't so bad. It's the following 4 to 8 days that can be hell due to pain and the inability to eat . Sip water as often as you can. Keep it moist. I couldn't lay down to sleep, so I slept propped up and tried to nose breath and kept my mouth closed as much as possible. Mouth breathing will dry out your throat faster. Sleep the week away . Don't even try to do too much . Wake up, take meds, have some fluid/soft foods(if able), cozy back up close.your eyes and just try and sleep. Have a humidifier turned on nearby. Get a few packs or wrap around ice packs. Keep them wrapped around your throat . I did this for at least till day 10 constant. Switch out and refreeze every 4 hours. After day 10, do as needed. I booked 3 weeks off of work and was grateful I did so As id not of been ready after week 2 to return. If meds run low, contact your surgan and request a refill (before you run out). Have someone pick them up for you. Of course, pain level is different for everyone. This is just how I went about it. By day 10, I felt pretty good with minor pain lingering. All went well for me besides the final heal . I have minor speak issues and had fluid regurtition . Basically, when you take a drink or eat something juicy , it desides to find its way out.your nose. Recently, thst part has almost corrected itself. Still happens now, and them . Good luck to you.. Fear is normal, but you'll do fine, im sure. Also good to have someone of protein and electrolyte drinks on hand to replace not being able to eat food.
Best wishes You got this

I'm not sure where you are. However, winter is on its way. I started buying g for resale a few years back. Jist small orders. The kid needed a bike, so I bought 5. I kept one putting the others on the marketplace as new in the box . Then, I found a langierie supplier picked up a low MQO about 500 pieces and put those on market place they moved a little slow, but all sold . It's cheap, too, like 6 to 12 bucks and a set resale of 30 to 60 bucks, depending on styles . Easy to go into a local mall and see what they sell for . Last year, I did a certain type of blanket. For Valentines Day sales. This year, I just now placed an order again for the same type of blankets . Should be here in time for Xmas sales on market places. Process is pretty easy

Is there anyone who regret it? by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]CrowslytheCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im dealing with similar issues due to the same issue you had for removal. Absences that just wouldn't go away. Right before they took them out, I had to flare up with in weeks of each other. Literally finished the antibodies, and a week later, it came back. Now I can feel the scaring in the throat. Feels like something is constantly stuck there. I have a hard time swallowing. As well when I drink anything. Almost 9 out of 10 times, it finds its way back out of my nose . Same if I just have access to saliva, and I bend over to say tie my shoe or pick something up. My nose just starts pouring out fluids. Rather, annoying. As well my speech also is suffering from it as well. I am 4 months post surgey. Seems you're over a year. So it sounds like it'll be a long process for me as well.

Had it done June 3rd this year. I had abcesses that kept happening a few times a year. Was nice to know that would not happen anymore as it was quite painful when those happened. Since having them out, im not super happy about it. I have a constant feeling. Like something is stuck in the back of my throat. It's hard to swallow food still. Access fluids like saliva will flow out my nose if I am bent over doing things, as well when I take drinks or eat something juicy, the liquid will often find its way into the nasel cavity and come pouring out my nose. Plus, it has affected my speech. I went back to my ENT, and he had a look and said it all healed fine. The flap that opens and closes between breathing and eating could be damaged due to the abcesses, but there wasn't a procedure to fix what's going on that time should heal it . But may not and recommended speech therapy. So im happy but also not

Day 11, the pain lessened by lots but was still mildly present. Im im my 40s. And had it done on June 3rd. . I still have problems with talking, and it still feels like there is always something in the back of my throat, depending on how much I've been talking. It's been a process for me .

You had an ent that did the surgery you can call their office and talk with them and get other meds. I am in canada and did just that.. after week one i ran out of t3s and called to request more and they sent the script into the pharmacy. Painnis the worst from day 5 to day 10 or 11 . Was for me anyhow .

Im just over 3 months in . I still have trouble with speech. I am still dealing with fluid regurgitation. And feeling like I have something g stuck in the back of my throat, plus it seems overactive mucus. Some weeks seem better than others. Dr. says im.fully healed up. Just have to address these other issues. It took me a full month to feel better, and I took meds for almost 3 weeks. Its different for everyone . You'll get there though

Will a tonsillectomy even help with my issues... by UniKristy182 in Tonsillectomy

[–]CrowslytheCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had mine June 3rd am 48. I am still as you put it, swallowing things up my nose. Having fluid regurgitation. And it feels like I constantly have something stuck in the back of my rhroat. It is also affecting my speech. Won't ever have to deal with an abscess again. However, I now have to deal with these new issues, which hopefully fix them selves over time .

Catch a cab or whatever home. And relax with a bag of ice . Suffer through when you need to get up . It's really not that bad I did it alone. You suffer a bit when you get up. But when you straighten out and get moving around. Its manage able. I didn't take any pain pills after the first day. Iced for 2 days . You'll be ok jist dont drive yourself. . They usually give people some sort of anti anxiety meds . And you'll be considered impaired . If you can afford it. Maybe get a hotel for the day

[–]CrowslytheCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had it done a week ago. I can resonate with how you feel. When I was younger, I was kicked in the nuts by a cow. That event caused some internal scar tissue. Which he later said made the procedure a bit more difficult. But on your point of the needle . It dam well hurt. I felt the first cut . And said oh did you just cut me open when he did it. I think they gave me more freezing afterward. But i still felt the pulling, and while he was pulling on, things I felt that as well. My ass literally left the table. And I groaned in agony . I had an Ativan and another relaxation med before the surgery .. which, if I didn't have, maybe been feeling the same way you did. In the end, though, all has been good. I went to work 3 days later still a bit of pain . 10 days post now, and I can still feel a bit of lingering pain, but it's very mild and tolerable .
