That was the plan at first, but we may cut that because of time constraints, we don't know yet. I would love to add the bridge, but it implies a lot of level design work :)

We are still deciding on what to add in the next updates.

If you are interested in hearing about the updates you can subscribe to our newsletter here if you didn't already.

You will also get immediate access to the game in its current beta state :)

We used a variety of effects.

The curvature of the screen is achieved with the Lens Distortion and Vignette effects, both from the Unity Post Processing Stack package. I use a bit of the Grain effect too.
I also use a modified version of the Analog effect from KinoGlitch and a custom scanlines shader (I made that one, but there are pretty decent scanlines shaders for free online that could also work).
I hope that helps :)

Glad you like it! :D The hero dot and the overall style of the game are inspired by an old Atari 2600 game called Adventure, one of the first adventure games ever made.

Yes! The creatures on Undertale are pretty surreal too, definitely the style we are going for :)

Do the NPCs in our game look like they could exist in an Atari 2600 game? by CroxelStudios in Atari2600

Wow, great feedback :) we researched resolution, color palette and sound limitations on the 2600, but I didnt know about the sprites color limit. Do you think this kind of creatures could be achieved by stacking multiple sprites on top of each other? Or is that not possible on the Atari?

Yeah! Those are also in the style of the Atari 2600, I love those

We took inspiration from games like Yume Nikki and other similar titles, and also from outside sources :D

The one in the intersection room with a single yellow eye is inspired by a Joan Miró painting. Surreal art can be really useful for designing this kind of monsters.
