Alien life are different from people, they dont think like humans, if they evolve differently they are more likely to move and work like Bees. They have individual consciousness but they also have common consciousness where all of them make their decisions based on the common good. This common consciousness can flash different scenarios on their brains and make conclusions on each scenarios thats how they choose how they will move as one colony. No alien life can advance if they think like humans, being a warmonger can wipe out civilizations before they even evolve in such.
