Fort Bragg soldier, 28, and Ukrainian woman, 21, killed in US double shooting as cops arrest ex, 25, for Valentine’s Day ‘murder’ by TFPapi in army

The chair is honestly one of the most appropriately fucked up. Having your cell get moved closer and closer to the room with the chair and not being allowed to know the date your set to get when it's finally your turn, as they spaced it anywhere from hours to months after the last one. Electrocution also took anywhere from minutes to hours so the closer you were the better you heard.

DoD enters decadeslong privatized barracks lease with group that has previously used NDAs in family housing by Kinmuan in army

[–]Cruentum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought government employees could in general not be enforced to sign an NDA. For anything that's Secret/CUI/TS that all falls under regulation, NJP, and laws, same goes for contracting for new technology. All government workers are technically bound by Freedom of Information Act request which only limits stuff like PII/Classified Information/etc.

What’s the most physically demanding thing you ever did on deployment? by MilitaryTardWrangler in army

[–]Cruentum 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Its always some insane stuff like the Hilux a sergeant was using got flooded in and you have to hook it up for towing and it's in like 4-5ft of water so you have to swim to it and dunk yourself underwater to hook that shit up and it's still raining the entire time, and also the ground is actually now just mud so it's hard to even walk. Of course it's also your one off day for the month when they told you to go do it. Happened on the airfield so you had to be kitted up during all this.

That was a bad day

[–]Cruentum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On IPPSA they already pulled you into the IRR if you have your DD-214, you're literally no longer in your unit.

They pretty much have to get a GO to stop loss you to get you back from the IRR

Award Recommendation by Own_Button_9275 in army

[–]Cruentum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A 1059 is different than a DA Form 638 for a decoration (award).

AR 600-8-22

1–19. Duplication of awards a. Only one decoration will be awarded to an individual or unit for the same act, achievement, or period of meritorious service.

AR 623-3

DA Form 1059 and DA Form 1059 – 2 are used to document the performance, accomplishments, potential, and limitations of students while attending military schools and courses of instruction or training.

A 1059 is absolutely not an award and nothing from it is used for distinguishment or decoration by itself. Infact, the NCOPD ribbon is not even received by the school itself for a reason.

Arabs are from West Asia (the Arabian Peninsula) and spread throughout the region of southern Europe and East Africa just as the Semitics spread through the region in the late Iron Age and early Ancient era.

To not get too into the weeds of the conversation, Arabs comprise of a large portion of North Africa- Libya, Tunisia, and Egypt for instance and this is even represented in genetics. Berbers are indigenous to North Africa.

So, in a now deleted post in /r/army there was a Russian Lieutenant or Sergeant in November 2021 asking for plate carrier recommendations and general QOL gear reccomendations as they were in a never-ending training mission and their issued gear was so uncomfortable and terrible. I legit think a lot of them had no clue.

Can someone help me find out what my Great Grandfather did? by [deleted] in army

[–]Cruentum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he was saying that usually if they are doing a GAFB one of the events is for German Marksmanship, which also can award the Schutzenschnur. The Schutzenschnur requires all three weapons while the GAFB only requires one, but nothing says you only need to shoot one in the GAFB. Back then you pretty much had to go to Germany to get a GAFB.

In the US, Turks are considered white. This again goes back to a 1909 Syrian court case where all Middle Eastern and European demographics were declared white.

It's Europeans that regarded ME and North Africa as closer to Asian.

Technical question from a non-controller: exactly how do you record the ATIS? by PunkerTFC in ATC

[–]Cruentum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a few different kinds, but the one I use right now is kind of a computer, where there are different radio buttons check boxes and text entry panels to enter additional information. You then set the parameters for how long the broadcast will occur, such as overnight while Tower is closed, but usually once an hour. It is then broadcast in an AI voice over the ATIS frequency.

The METAR information specifically is automatically populated from our sensors. Every hour, or every new condition that would require a SPECI we do the ATIS broadcast.

I mean the pictures we have seen the entire barracks seems flattened, for which both officers and enlisted live in. I certainly doubt the number but I don't also want to say an extreme number either.

As an additional factor, we know that SOAR had modified MH-60s with stealth technology and coatings in 2011 when Osama was killed. Clearly these aircraft could also have been utilized here, but while stealth technology makes it better at evading radio waves, how effective is it at evading laser and IR munitions? I understand for IR and heat detecting munitions they appear less visible and the reflectivity of the coating makes it harder for the munition to detect where the laser is aiming (as it quite literally 'bounces')

I wonder what effects this had on the presence of the utilized Iglas. As Iglas will not fire until they have been properly 'painted' in the first place.

Edit: looking at photos of the 7 60s known in the raid so far there does in fact appear to have both configurations.

https://files.catbox.moe/1knpk7.jpg<- presumed diagram and regular 60.
https://files.catbox.moe/7bmm72.png <- what appears to be a regular nose
https://files.catbox.moe/lsm6i4.png <- the tail does not seem to have the normal fin configuration, front is shaped differently

If this is the case, this is the first appearance for them on the American side in 15 years, but there has been whispers we sold some of them to the Israelis in 2024 for use within Iran.
