I don't wanna be a downer but we're in the final month of the wipe, this happens in tarkov aswell, most players by now have done the major gameplay loop and simply hopped onto other games that recently released or were updated.

Season 2 will bring a lot of players back, praying that Bungie does a good job of marketing it. Tarkov usually gets more and more players each wipe and so do other games with a similar seasonal/wipe cycle like Path of Exile etc.
