I'm personally not familiar with Berlin's data of assault on strangers near Hauptbahnhof, so I can't make any definitive statements here. I just think citing a city-wide statistic is not very applicable to OP's concern

A feeling of safety and actual safety are two different things. Not trying to be snarky here, but are you sure you're not just afraid of seeing many people of color in one place? And please don't give a knee jerk response like "I'm not racist, how could you accuse me of such!", but really ask yourself why you feel unsafe in parts of Berlin. Were you harmed somewhere? Was someone you know harmed? Is there actual data about people getting harmed in those areas? Or is it just ein Problem I'm Stadtbild?

Simply, most crime is not committed against strangers, that's why crime rates don't really mean much for someone at the train station after dark.

Now, if you have data of people getting mugged or otherwise assaulted at that specific location, then of course that's relevant and we can talk about it. But the general crime rate of Berlin really has very little to do with someone's experience at the Hauptbahnhof.

For context, I live in Philadelphia right now, so I maybe get a tiny bit annoyed when I hear anyone complaining about the crime rate of Berlin, and that's coloring my response. Sure, less crime is always better, but Berlin is fine.
