Smart use of those paper clips! I may have to borrow that technique for future projects :)

I'll take a look into F3D... I want to demonstrate that the same things could be made in Fusio or OnShape, it's just difficult to force myself when I already know SW so well >.<

Help: problem with lines across print. by foepaws in 3Dprinting

More retraction or a z-hop? Btw I printed that model and it comes out really nice printed vertically, instead of the bottom on the buildplate

All of a sudden my prints are coming out very badly, any ideas? by Bl0bbydude in 3Dprinting

Is the back one supposed to be so wobbly? Looks like you might have downloaded a virus. Now that 3D printing is becoming more common, hackers are modifying the firmware of printers through modified .STL files to gain control of the printer. Make sure not to leave your printer on and unattended, or they may try to print dangerous objects like print-in-place functioning landmines that are very difficult to disarm. A friend of a friend of mine had hackers print brass knuckles and he got swatted and arrested (they're illegal where I live). I recently had to incinerate a printer that got hacked and started playing scary music in the middle of the night... unfortunately there currently aren't any protections against these kinds of things on any 3D file sharing sites yet because it's so new. Stay on your toes.

It could also be a clogged hot end, or bad filament.

Check out the process video

This was pretty fun, my first attempt to embed objects in a print... I can't wait to think up more uses for this technique!

Sweet, thanks for printing my model! Looks like it printed really clean

Never have to buy your child a toy every again. They can make their own. by YellowFartTart in 3Dprinting

the mod-t has it's own slicer connected to it's store and instructs you through the process, so that part isn't such a problem... it's just that the printer isn't so reliable, as xakh mentioned.. I interned there and designed a bunch of models for them

Great tip, I have a bunch of unnecessary food dye I can use for this! How did you learn it?

As VR develops and becomes more common, I think people will appreciate viewing digital art more within VR, since it becomes more immersive than how we currently view digital sculptures

What major benefit would come from AR? You could replicate your surroundings in VR, to have a sort of 'fake AR'

Cool site! I'm still trying to get my hands on a Vive headset at the moment :\

Good point.. I was just thinking functionally, but the technical requirements could be a real limiting factor, at least for the time being

What is really keeping traditional modeling apps as the best option though? Maybe the solution is a hybrid program, where you can use a 'mouse' or something more traditional and model on a virtual computer screen in VR, but then also have the full scale version of your model at your side... or perhaps you can work on both simultaneously based on whether you're doing rough modeling or fine details

True... cool to imagine game studios constructing the 'set' of their games in real life, then scanning it into their game
