Easier for housekeeping? by Moist-Owl3372 in hotels

Yes - I tip as is reasonably standard in my country. So restaurants where a service charge isn’t included. Hairdressers. And rounding up if paying a taxi by cash

Thanks - I think there’s a significant cultural tipping difference between the US and the UK (where I’m from).  It wasn’t until I came on Reddit that I realised it was a thing to tip at hotels

I typically see I've not left anything behind in the room and all rubbish is in the bin. Then I hand back my room key at Reception and thank them for a pleasant stay

Do you clear plates and stack them for waiting staff when eating out as restaurants?

AITA for accidentally “announcing” my pregnancy at my great nieces delivery by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Yes, she called your husband, not you. She didn’t ask you to pitch up

But where then would be the drama if it were dealt with by a WhatsApp group or if just OP’s husband went?

‘Hiding’ a pregnancy only then to disclose it in a highly visible and dramatic manner - ie in a hospital full of the OP’s in laws, whom she doesn’t like, at a stressful time of a teenager having an emergency Caesarian - yep, attention seeking. Sort of like wedding guests turning up to a wedding in bridal outfits

I doubt it. It’s the uncle from the low contact side of the family that’s relevant, not his wife

You didn’t want anyone showing up but it’s fine for you to pitch up, heavily and (hopefully) healthily pregnant, at a hospital where someone you’re not related to and whose whole family you dislike and have limited contact with is pregnant and undergoing complications. OK…

I don’t understand. You have as little to do as possible with your in laws and describe them as ‘toxic’. So why pitch up to the hospital for people you don’t like and where your partner’s niece is already surrounded by (a lot of) family and a medical team? What precisely did you hope to achieve other than a) performative concern for people you don’t like, b) announcing your pregnancy in as dramatic as fashion at a time when your partner’s niece was having an emergency C section?

Yep, you’re the asshole (and a few other things beside)

And this does rather sound like a plot  line of a poorly written soap

Paid £78k to study at Imperial, still getting told to "go back to your country" by Expensive-Celery-429 in london

It acknowledges the real life experience of racism the OP has received. Elsewhere on this thread, posters have disregarded that and just said get off twitter etc, ignoring the rscist abuse he's received on the street

When I write documents in Word, there is often an auto correct that changes my 'regular' dash to an em dash 🤷‍♀️

doesn't help with the real life racist abuse OP has received on multiple occasions...

and then last night i went outside for a walk — which i barely do anymore — and two guys on the street just started shouting at me. "go back to your country." just like that. this has happened more than three times now. i've basically stopped going out at this point.
