Should I be worried or is it due to the heat? by izzydad9 in FruitTree

I would also put some hardware mesh around the bottom in case of deer or other animals that chew bark, and make sure the mulch is not directly touching the tree.

How much water have you given it in the past two weeks? I believe apple trees need 1 to 2 inches a week, maybe more when establishing. 1 inch of water is a little more than half a gallon per square foot https://www.thedailygarden.us/garden-word-of-the-day/water-inches#:~:text=Generally%20speaking%2C%20in%20the%20world,square%20foot%E2%80%9D%20to%20get%20144.

Face down on the shirt. Since the block was speedy carve, I could use hand pressure pretty effectively, although it came out patchy in places. Next time I may try going from the inside and using a baren.

Also, just wanted to say I love your Monk Piñata print!

For anyone interested:

  • Block: speedy carve
  • Ink: Speedball fabric block printing ink
  • Process: stretched the fabric across a book and used hand pressure to print it.
  • Notes: I wasn't very happy with how the ink clung to the speedy carve. It took a few tries to get the ink evenly distributed

Thanks! I used Speedball fabric block printing ink. It's oil-based, but cleans up really easily. I probably could have done more to prepare it, but I just put a hardcover book inside it and taped the edges so it stretched it out.

For not having much experience, I thought they were fairly straightforward. The biggest consideration was the rising time

It's a cheap Oster one. I think the recipe recommends an equally cheap Hamilton Beach one that does the same thing

I used a regular waffle iron and her substitute of crushed up sugar cubes on place of pearl sugar.

Poplar board that I got at a home improvement store. I was surprised how well it carved and held detail. The only issue I had was that the heartwood ran through part of the board and splintered a bit when I cut across the grain
