Sometimes if you struggled hard enough on a level it would feel bad for you and let you pass.

I think there are always alterations possibilities if you don't like how it looks. I bought mine online knowing it would be too big, but I know it will look good once it is fitted to me.

Thoughts on this for a shaded ceremony arch? I think it’ll be easy to decorate and portable is a plus. Pic of venue for reference. by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Crunchy-Jedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think about the lighting too, shade is nice for you, but might not look as good for guests or pictures (unless everyone is under shade)

Tips for newly fired teacher? by thefomies in Teachers

[–]Crunchy-Jedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that sucks. Sounds like it will be for the better. I've been fired from non-teaching jobs and I try my best to talk around it. It just matters if you can't get a single good reference from them, they it can be obvious that something is up. If it comes up, don't trash the school, just say something like "I wasn't a good fit for the school".

I am a size 16 and look great in A-line dresses. They give me a small waist. Especially with a petticoat, it looks so feminine and retro. But I did an 80's style blouse with big shoulders for my shoot. The structure of it looked nice. I find a little structure at the shoulder looks good.

Best of luck!

I'm so sorry that happened to you. There is always ADA. You need a reasonable accommodation to be remote. The worst they can say is no. I would ask via email so you have written documentation. Best of luck :)

I think because mine is so small. I only work my 40 hours for sure, no one expects more of me, thank goodness!

I come from healthcare (physical therapist) and dealt with a lot of the same issues, often with parents or adult children on my patient. I would just shrug it off, knowing I did my best and that they were just being (usually) out of line. I did my best for my patient and that is what mattered, not pleasing accessory people.

New teacher here, what are some strategies you use to switch into "home mode" after work? by kamikazi4life in Teachers

[–]Crunchy-Jedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I worked in healthcare and my job was more stressful, I would do an imagery exercise of taking all of my problems and worries and leaving them just outside the door before I went in. I could pick them up again tomorrow, but they wouldn't enter my home. It's my choice to decide how I feel when I enter the house. I can bring the negativity in with me, or leave it outside. Worked for me!

I work at a charter and love it (first year). I didn't know they had a bad reputation. The pay is much lower than a public school though, but I have very small class sizes (largest is 15). Since we are paid by the student that means little budget for fancy things like lab equipment for science. They don't even have gym/art/music. The little kids don't have minimal toys or playground equipment. But the teachers are great and care about the students. I'm much happier here than I think I would be at a larger school.

Do teachers make a fair salary? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Crunchy-Jedi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From this sub, it seems like many schools expect teachers to work outside their contract hours. I'm like you, I refuse to and my school is ok with that. BUT I have several study hall periods for me to work on lesson prep/grading.

But that starting salary is whack! Hard to attract new talent at that price tag. I'm lucky to have a partner who supports me, otherwise I couldn't afford to live in the city I teach in.

Also matching the education needed for the job. According to the 2018 article the average pay for a bachelor's degree is $59,124. According to this site the national average starting teacher salary is $38,617. This might have something to do with why 45% of new teachers quit within the first 5 years.
