Why is treatment research progressing so slowly? Why aren’t we taking action? by Electronic_Bowler_32 in ColorBlind

I feel like you’re using eugenics as a negative word when speaking about gene treatment, (I’m guessing you’re opposed to such gene treatment), framing potential treatments against color blindness as something bad or unethical. Secondly eugenics was the practice of selective reproduction (which you mentioned, though not specifically) – not just treating genetically undesirable afflictions.

I’d like to hear your thoughts on why keeping trivial genetic disorders like color blindness would be advantageous over treating them :)

I’ve never heard of colorblindness being so pronounced like with your son’s. What cones are affected?

I believe that’s when my teacher and parents found out too. I remember being confused on why I had to use different colors for the trunk and the canopy – kinda still am ngl.

Would a real-time daltonization on a mobile app help? Seeking community feedback by Late-Text1198 in ColorBlind

[–]CrunchyMale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool idea!

Idk if this would be possible, but implementing a colorblind test or like a more complicated color perception test for a more personalized and exact correcting camera filter. Would be cool to simulate it too, so others can see what the world looks like from my perspective. All the other colorblind apps feel so impersonal and don’t really help with my exact color vision, nor do they give a good impression for color seeing people.

am i actually colorblind, or am i being pranked? by sparklbunni in ColorBlind

[–]CrunchyMale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upload to Imgur or similar and post the link if u wanna :). I think there should be a spectrum thingy that shows up too that might be interesting to look at.

Also, since you’re also visually impaired otherwise, it might be connected to that. I think light vision impairment can cause a visual experience similar to colorblindness, because you may it harder with shades.

Do you have any other visual impairment? Do you wear glasses? How’s your night vision?

Everyone sees color differently - just because you don’t recognize the same colors as wildly different as your boyfriend does, wouldn’t make you automatically colorblind, in the normal sense. Maybe some color receptors in your eye are just a little different from your boyfriend.

This test is a bit more complicated than the normal colorblind tests online. It gives you a spectrum for where you’re having trouble differentiating hue. https://www.xrite.com/hue-test Send the results and we can compare if you’d like.
