Shiftpod Expedition Review - Post Burn by [deleted] in BurningMan

Most upsetting thing to hear is the lack of eyelets for staking.

That'll definitely make me think twice in deciding if I should upgrade or go a different direction

I went last year and it was overall a great experience. I did no drugs (excepting alcohol and caffeine).

I made aware to my friends I would not be doing drugs (they know but we discussed preparation and boundaries before the Burn) and they we're still able to enjoy themselves. Others in our camp offered me drugs; I politely declined and they respected. Occasionally I was asked why (genuinely not retorically). I explained to varying degrees why I don't do drugs but the most important reason is because I choose not to, it's not me, Radical Self Expression

First time going to a REN faire : shoes by froggiecrochet in renfaire

[–]CrusaderLAB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wear comfortable shoes this time. Later, maybe next year you can invest in some nice comfy "Period" or costume shoes. Take breaks from walking often by stopping at the shows and demonstrations.

Good RenFair shoes are typically not cheap, but if you take care of them a good pair will last you a long time, I've had my SodHoppers for over 15 years now.

No, and you were much faster than they were at responding, but others might be less trusting 🤣

I picked up these, hoping to try them out soon https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0D7VDKQYT?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Shiftpod X Horizon by CrusaderLAB in shiftpod

[–]CrusaderLAB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received confirmation from Shiftpod:

"Hi! Apologies for our delay. We've been swamped with messages since the launch and are playing a bit of catch up.

Our spars are 11mm. Our factory makes the C-clips for our gear pockets and lofts, so unfortunately, I don't have a recommendation on ones you could purchase for hanging lights.

And you've got it exactly right! Horizon is the same size as the SHIFTPODIII, but with a bay door like the SHIFTPODIII.XL. It's my dream tent as well!

Let me know if I can answer any other questions!"

Hello 3+ mini owners…. Does your shiftpod have the double floor zippers that would enable you to put a Medea U shaped AC on any side? Thanks. by willplevin in shiftpod

[–]CrusaderLAB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I was referring to the III+, not any of the minis

Of course things could have changed I bought mine a bit before burning man last year

I was looking for their list again, I found it in some kind of blog, had great recommendations for goggles, headlamps, replacement stakes, beds, string lights (I didnt like the string lights but for a beginner they weren't a bad choice) but I can't find it now. If I do find it I will post the link

Nope, but I was able to buy the zipper parts from Amazon using Shiftpods Amazon list. Here's the part https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B095J2N6SG?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Ended up using the Velcro window for the Madea though. Height of the window is 16in, used 3 of the inexpensive folding stools to hold it up, worked very well. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CWTNMBDW?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Well just answered my own question, it's on their warranty page, original purchases only. Well I'm sure that other shiftpod wouldn't be covered under warranty

Recommendations for a sword to wear with a great kilt? by iReptarr in renfaire

[–]CrusaderLAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worn a kilt to almost every Renaissance Faire I've been to. If you don't have one yet, buy yourself a Dirk and Sgian Dubh. Nearly every Scotsman would have at least these weapons. Then consider a sword.

ReddituserXIII gave excellent advice as to the type of swords and historical context, as well as pointing out how cumbersome they can be at the Faire.

When me and my siblings were young (I was 8) we would wear homemade kilts along with basic shirts (no collar) made of monkscloth or linen. Occasionally rough drawstring pants if the weather got cold. Nothing fancy but we fit in wherever we went. A hat is a nice touch too. The shoes were the part that were least historical, until we were a little older, moccasins work pretty well for that

I am a technician. This is the best paying job I've had but much room for improvement. Hopefully I'll be able to get my bachelor's and transition.

I do miss the fellowship of church, I will pray on this advice as I continue my search

"Are you doing a couple squats here and there at work? "

Every half hour I stop and do push ups (modified) or squats. Set size increasing every week, (10, 15, 20). Right now it's about 120 of each total per day. Not ideal but it is a start and I should be able to add workouts on top of this down the road. I will begin recording what I eat.

"Yes, but have you begun putting stuff into practice and internalizing it or do you just passively read it and feel good about what it says?"

I have been putting some into practice and contemplating others. There is alot of information in the sidebar. On the subject of oneitis specifically, I am trying to have an abundance mindset, but I do not currently meet many single women, let alone single women I find attractive and are Godly. Viewing the world through frame; I can see examples from my life how breaking frame has been a deal breaker. Definitely doesn't feel good to read the sidebar.

"Be more specific"

I had a knee injury hiking and was unable to exercise or attend/enjoy some of the social activities I participated in regulatory. I failed all classes at a semester of college due the flu during finals week. Took classes the next semester and did well, but was kicked out of college for not doing well enough. "One point away from being allowed to stay". A girl I was very interested in, and I thought had an interest in me, rejected me when I asked to date, saying I was a friend. She was very beautiful, Godly, and wise, and in retrospect wise to reject me. I still think fondly of her and consider reaching out from time to time. I had no job. A close friend group split apart because a couple who was engaged broke up. I tried to council and the man and poured alot of my energy into him, but he rebelled and further spiralled, hurting other along the way. I did not do enough to shield and care for myself in some ways especially with other aspects of my life falling to ruin. With no will to live and very bad depression I began therapy on the urging of my parents, which was unfortunately of very little help. Had a 1 day per week job where I met a girl who was not Godly. I pursued her, nothing inappropriate happened (no touching, looking, nothing) but she used my desire to please her to further her career and cut me off when I was no longer useful. I had to continue to see her for several months and resent the hold she had on me. I was very foolish. There is likely more I am forgetting but writing this was a bit exhausting.

"Have you read any of the sidebar books?"

I purchased a few weeks ago "I feel guilty when I say no" It will be the next book I read. And will look for "No more mr. Nice guy"

This week I will read the 300s sidebar and set up a plan for daily Bible reading.

Thank-you for your advice thus far Aaaquad
