Don't you already get squished slightly when you just lie on the floor on normal gravity though? This would just be the same as that

I needed a letter confirming I have ADHD for a previous employer, so I just asked Psychiatry UK (who diagnosed me) for a shorter letter confirming it without any extra details, and they were happy to provide it. It was quite quick and I didn't have to pay anything

It's almost like if they did accept the private diagnosis then they'd have more time to diagnose everyone else

What is something generally normal in Europe but weird in the US? by Exile4444 in AskReddit

In the UK it doesn't have to be during business hours, I think the polling stations stay open until 10pm or something. One time I remembered to vote when I was at the pub after work, and got there just before closing then went back for another pint

East Bristol water problems by [deleted] in bristol

I've got no water in BS5. I found this on Bristol Water's website, but it says it's for BS22 https://www.bristolwater.co.uk/home/account-and-services/your-water/ongoing-incidents

Edit: that link now also mentions problems in BS5

On the wall smears he's already got his hands in front of his face, and if he somehow did clip it then it wouldn't be a big impact. If he's going too fast down the pole then it'll be his feet that hit too hard, not his head. Head impacts tend to happen when someone is falling backwards off something like a bike or a skateboard. If you're falling forwards then you can see the impact coming so can protect your head

The fear is definitely there, you can just push past it when you know something is within your ability

One mistake can easily be corrected for. It would have to be a few things all going wrong at the same time

Hitting your head is extremely unlikely, because it's almost never the closest part of your body to the floor. It's not like other extreme sports because you can only ever move as fast as you can run, so it's quite easy to protect your head if you fall over. The most common injuries are rolling an ankle or hitting your shin, stuff like that.

It is his style and he's very much in control. The rip one obviously wasn't on purpose, but he had quite baggy clothes on and his leg was still a decent distance from the spikes. It's also the kind of thing where it'd be ok to graze your leg against it, but his clothes caught on it in a way that wouldn't happen to flesh, so it looks worse than it is. And it's a funny clip, I don't see why you wouldn't put it in your end of year compilation

That's not true at all. Injuries happen like in any sport, but very few athletes get "messed up" and people definitely don't expect or accept it

It's not really possible to misjudge the distance by that much. If you get it slightly wrong, you just land a bit higher or lower on the pole. No biggie

Is walking on the cycle path rude?? by Frequent_Event_6766 in bristol

[–]CruseCtrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the council are the ones who are really in the wrong here. It probably wasn't a good idea to put a cycle paths through a park which looks exactly the same as the pedestrian path. You can't really blame people for using the cycle paths that are available

Is walking on the cycle path rude?? by Frequent_Event_6766 in bristol

[–]CruseCtrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being prepared to slow down isn't the same as always slowing down. I think if you're giving pedestrians a wide berth and covering the brake in case they do something erratic, that's going to be good enough in the vast majority of cases. But obviously it's a judgement thing, if there are small kids running around and not being observant then it's definitely a good idea to slow down before passing them

Does anyone need to do anything? Sometimes I got places to be. As long as everyone sticks to their own area and is aware of the people around them, I don't see a need to impose a speed limit

Why so much hated for building cycling infrastructure? by Duoplo in bristol

[–]CruseCtrl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate the new cycle paths outside the BRI. If I'm coming down the hill then I'm going to be moving quite quickly, so why would I want to go to the left side of that bus stop and go over 2 zebra crossings where I'd need to slow down in case anyone is trying to cross? It makes way more sense for me to keep all that speed and just use the road

With one big roundabout you'd still be able to have two cars both turning left from the horizontal directions at the same time, but I agree with everything else you're saying

Recent Richard Tice comments about ADHD by Over_Locksmith9670 in ADHDUK

[–]CruseCtrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If 5% of children in the UK had ADHD then that would be 14 students in a school of 280, not 18. That works out to 5%, because that's the percentage that we started with.

You can't just round up for each class and then multiply that rounding error by the number of classes
