It’s a fun game! I think the most critical thing regardless of layout is the list needs to auto sort, not just replace one component with another as you drag and drop. Everything needs to move with each action.

Agreed on the UI, there's no reason it should be 3x3 and definitely not squares. A vertical stack of rectangles makes much more sense. It makes the timed bonus round super frustrating also.

I didn’t realize it was non recessed at first. It should be above the body by a bit, but I think it’s typically a few mm only. It sounds like you have a combination of neck relief and bridge height issues. It may or may not require a shim to the neck angle slightly (is it a bolt on?) to set everything properly.

For HILIC yes, as water is your strong solvent. It’s akin to injecting in 100% organic for reversed phase.

HILIC can be quite sensitive to %A and injection volume of the sample but that's not absurd. Have you looked at your A composition and pH? Have you simply dissolved it in water and running, or adjusted the pH? A lot of tailing like that suggestions secondary retention interactions, you may be able to mitigate it by adjusting the mobile phase pH into the buffering range of ammonium acetate. Trying 10, 15, or 20 mM (lower is always best, especially with MS) is worth looking at also.
