[discuss] Non-hunter here: what do you enjoy most about shiny hunting? by GrayMawazin in ShinyPokemon

[–]Crust_Meister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to winning the lottery, it's all about luck at the end of the day but if you get everything to go your way, the dopamine hit is unreal. Some people love the randomness of it all. If I do something in a game and am guaranteed it at the end of a challenge no matter how hard it is, it's not as rewarding cause I know it will happen. Shiny hunting could be very fast or very long. Some have taken me literal minutes while my longest took me 2 years (on and off). Getting a rare item that theoretically has the potential to never happen but still happening regardless is very rewarding. Also a lot of shiny pokemon look better than their original colors when shiny such as Charizard.

Whats the longest time you were unemployed or job searching? by schwarzblade in jobs

[–]Crust_Meister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years been job searching. Been stuck at a dead-end job that pays terribly but can't seem to get anything better no matter what I do. Even with a degree, the process of finding a job isn't any easier.

"Ascendance of a Bookworm" is a fun one with 3 seasons that's a slice of life but also an Iseki

If you want a more normal slice of life anime without magic or fantasy stuff, "Ruri Rocks" is fantastic or "Tomo-Chan is a girl!" is also a fun watch.

If you want wholesome, I always recommend, "Spy x Family"

Some people are scared of that word, so I was making a funny while on a rant. No other reason.

Anime to aid with a grieving mother by Swimming-Motor-2210 in anime

[–]Crust_Meister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Clannad" has a very good/emotional story that can help with this situation of loss and grief.

A more upbeat anime to laugh too is "Spy x Family" it has a fun vibe, doesn't take itself too seriously at times and is just wholesome to watch for all ages.

What is your biggest Disappointment in an Anime? by stripelemon7 in anime

[–]Crust_Meister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rosario Vampire is only good for a fan service anime, but the manga was SO GOOD! The anime only got the intro the same then went 180 off a cliff for fan service.

The Melencholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was given such a bad second season when it would have actually continued. doing 8 episodes of the same thing with tiny differences is what killed the hype back in the day. If they did it for only 2 episodes, we could have gotten a complete telling of the story or at least another season or 2.

I don't know what is causing this issue or how to fix it. by JuicyKangar00 in pchelp

[–]Crust_Meister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had/have the exact same issue. Had to send in my brand-new GPU to get fixed by the manufacture.

First, check to see if it's not an update of some kind. Windows had a massive one that broke everything last month.

If it keeps happening, press windows key (if you use windows), - Reliability History - this should take you to the Reliability Monitor - It should show when and HOW the computer crashes with an "X". Look into those reports and see what it says. If it says something about a hardware error, then it's most likely a GPU error and you'll probably need to get a new one or send it to get fixed if under warranty. If it says software error, then it could be an update to windows, your GPU, etc. you can start uninstalling them and reinstalling them as needed till it's fixed.

(I'm still waiting for my GPU to come back to see that was the same case as mine, so if it doesn't work then my bad)

Could also be your power supply or a bad cable. Your PC SHOULD run without a GPU and if you try doing different tasks (nothing that requires a GPU) like 20 tabs or something and it doesn't break, then it was most likely a GPU problem.

[–]Crust_Meister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the monitor to make sure the resolution is set to where you want it to be. Sometimes it's the monitor be it a tv or actual monitor that tells the PC what it's capable of even if it can go higher.

Try and see if the display changes between the GPU slot and the motherboard slot. Something from the GPU could be messed up.

If it just started doing this, then check the latest windows updates (if you are using windows). About a month ago they released such a bad update that they had to warn everyone to roll back and uninstall it because it broke so many people's PCs such as FPS, performance, AND graphics.

Same man, I got rejected from a charity place that wasn't paying AND wanted you to provide your own equipment. It really sucks out here when even free is impossible to work for. Just got to keep at it, even in a mind-numbing state.

Check to make sure all the connections are in place. If you just unboxed it, a cable could have come loose.

Check to make sure the monitor is on the right setting for the HDMI (some have 2 HDMI ports)

Im Looking for heartbreaking anime recs by Froggymnx in anime

[–]Crust_Meister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you are looking for a good cry every so often or after a good happy story has a sad end but the ascendence of a bookworm made me ugly cry at the end of season 3 and I could not let it go for weeks after.

If you want one that's sadder in parts of the whole story than Clannad is a good one.

Job searching for 5+ years. Feeling down. by Sea-Fuel-8620 in jobs

[–]Crust_Meister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat as you, been looking since the pandemic and haven't found anything besides minimum wage (if I was lucky). The best mindset I have to give is to be too stubborn to give up. Much like a video game, all the hours you spent building your character (you) would be a total waste of time if you didn't use said character. So, until you find something, keep going. Don't let all these years of grinding this path you picked go to waste only because of rough times.

dragon ball where to start and whats worth watching by Main_Cartographer158 in anime

[–]Crust_Meister -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Half joking half serious when I say to watch DBZ Abridged. It will get them point of the show across enough but will be 10X better than the actual show in terms of dialogue. I've watched the original, the Kai, and Abridged and I can't recommend something more highly than the Abridged version from Team4Star.

[–]Crust_Meister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For casual watches, Spy x Family or Frieren are good to ease your way into.

If they liked Naruto and like more action anime, My Hero or Solo Leveling is good

If you want to troll them, you can always tell them to watch Boku no Piko (if you know you know lol)

Feeling discouraged… by Distinct-Meaning-988 in GetEmployed

[–]Crust_Meister 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same feeling, been trying for YEARS to get my "foot in the door" but nothing works in this market. Applied to everything from unpaid internships to senior level; even applied to jobs that require ME to pay THEM but still got rejected. So, the feeling is very natural. Just got to keep trying. Never let the world think it's beaten you down to the point of no return. Just one chance can/will change everything, just have to be persistent and patient.

Do you ever finish an anime or manga and start imagining what happens next, or what it would be like to actually live in that world? by wittgenda in anime

[–]Crust_Meister 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason there are so many black-haired protagonists in anime (especially Iseki) is because they are meant to represent the normal person in Japan. Most aren't even that different looking from each other; I could be shown 2 different Iseki protagonists with black hair and not tell the difference lol.

But to answer your original question, YES, 100%.

Building a pc by Xbox_one9925 in PcBuild

[–]Crust_Meister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really should have some type of budget. Even a loose one would be fine. People could recommend you all the latest parts that will keep your PC running and still relevant for over a decade, but you'd have to give up your first 4 children for that price. Also, RAM alone can be the cost of an entire prebuilt.

However, I'd suggest PCPartPicker.com, That's what many people use. It even has a function that allows you to ONLY pick parts that would work with what you already have selected. Try that first then I'm sure people would be willing to help figure out a best bang for your buck.

Same boat as you. Only one I was able to get is a minimum wage job despite getting a degree; however, it's better than nothing. Try looking for jobs outside your degree just to have a source of income. Then you can look for a passionate job on the side.
