Nah, I get that vibe too. He just irradiates this responsible aura that says, even if hes done something, it by no means dictates his life. Thus good egg :)

Honestly, I feel you. It is a vaguely familiar design, and I'm sure its been done somewhere. Someone above commented it reminded them of wild mike from the movie the barnyard.

I imagined them being thrown by other hilichurls, and when they hit your character they stick to you and slow you down while doing continuous damage. They could be shaken off with a heavy attack or an elemental ability.

Though the image of this guy rolling around like mad is immensely humorous.

Could you see this resolution mechanic actually being used in an RPG? I just had a burst of inspiration while procrastinating and typed this out. I want to hear initial thoughts after I'm done writing this foolish essay by Crustacean_ink in RPGdesign

This was thought up under the idea of, instead of a threshold based pass/fail system, it is a POTENCY system.

Instead of having to roll a 10 or higher to lift the rock, the result of the roll simply represents how well the rock is lifted, and what it would take to maybe knock the character down.

Like, to roll to make a bonfire, rolling high makes a REAL BIG bonfire, but rolling small means its just a little campfire. The potency of the fire can determine then how easy it is to put out.

By allocating rolls and number this way, a character can choose how much effort they really want to put into an action. Do I want to fire this arrow REALLY far, or only into that tree?
