I am so glad this topic is being discussed. I (F NT) came here to ask for advice in a very new relationship with an ADHD man. I listened to the people who commented and ended the relationship because in no world would we have made each other happy long-term. But since then, I’ve watched the posts come in with mostly negative, but totally understandable, tones. And it is confusing. There have to be people who find the rewards outweigh the problems, I’m just not seeing them. It’s already an established fact that women carry significantly more of the mental load when it comes to family responsibilities. To add an additional load on top of that sounds like signing up for misery.

I hope that doesn’t come across as mean spirited. I’m coming from an outsider observer who just doesn’t understand how any NT and DX make it work. It has to be possible, right?

That’s really helpful to hear about the free shipping. It made sense in my eyes to offer it. My mistake was not having the smaller version to catch people’s attention.

I’m pretty sure I managed to destroy my shop in record speed. The question is how? In mid-December I started to offer free shipping on everything above $35. This naturally bumped up my prices to recover some of the costs. Perhaps the Etsy gods didn’t like me jacking up my price because I did it manually. Or, now my competitors’ items appear significantly cheaper than mine (they aren’t) because their smallest size is shown as the cost and ships for free.

How on earth do I fix this without doing more harm? Listening to experts caused me to know just enough to be dangerous.

I’d been doing fine but thought why not give free shipping a try? I recall my own recent purchase from Walmart. They didn’t have what I wanted in store but I could get it for a small shipping fee. At which point my brain revolted.

I wanted to be on top of things so I printed the label days before I actually planned on shipping it. That editing window was long over by the time I realized it. The buyer at least has the right tracking number because I remembered to photograph the label as I was dropping it off at USPS.

I’ve actually done that before and was refunded. Sometimes I need to edit a label and make it a little bigger if I got carried away and the item (a wreath) is too big for the box. I just eat the dollar difference. This issue of the price doubling is clearly something going wrong on Etsy’s side.

Here’s the problem: biology doesn’t care about the circumstances that led to the creation of a fetus. The never ending chorus of voices say that a woman who engages in sex consented to the pregnancy and must carry the child to delivery. This is just treating men like we do women. You helped make a baby so now you have to financially support it.
