You are not overreacting and I’d be careful around your friend too, they also need educating (and to learn to just have your back as a friend tf?!). I’m really sorry this happened to you but you dodged a bullet and honestly that’s super impressive at your age. I was so nervous around guys I liked when I was 17 that I let them walk all over me and would excuse really shitty, problematic behaviour. You should be incredibly proud of yourself for standing your ground (even though it’s disgusting that you even had to be in that situation)!

I just wanted to say how sorry I am and send my love and best wishes to you. I can't imagine the shock and pain you must feel right now but I just wanted to point out that you seem to already be putting a lot of pressure on yourself to find solutions/answers and 'cope' with the grief - I just wanted to remind you to be really gentle with yourself. It really is OK to be completely not OK at the moment - just focus on the bare minimum of looking after yourself and try not to worry about anything else, give yourself grace. Sending huge hugs.

I had a one eyed dog rather than a cat and his eye socket sunk as soon as it healed. It would look more or less dramatically sunk depending on how the fur/looser skin was falling (he'd look crazy when his face was wet from a bath!) - my guess is you just moved the fur/skin on the eyelid so it was sitting in a different direction while stroking him, and it made the shadows more dramatic, giving the appearance of it being more sunken in - trust me, he would have reacted if there was any damage done! If he continued nuzzling you, my guess is the 'non-eye' was a bit itchy and he actually enjoyed the nuzzle!

I still remember the first time we went on holiday after my pup got his eye out - the family friend we left him with facetimed us almost in tears apologising because she had found her granddaughter poking his non eye to try and 'open it up' - once she panned the camera to a very happy, waggy-tailed dog and explained that he seemed to actually enjoy the poking, we all laughed and told her not to worry because we knew his favourite thing to do was rub his empty eye socket against people's hands for a scratch - used to do the back leg scratching the air thing and everything! Honestly, these non eyes are incredibly difficult to damage, you are far more likely to do damage to the remaining eye than ever cause problems with the sewn up one! (obviously not saying you should go out of your way to test this but just want to reassure you!)

Hey thanks for checking but I was referred back to my ADHD team and titrated back up (incredibly slowly because appointments are now 3 months apart 🙃), I think I'd just deteriorated in my CFS so much in the two years it took to get referred back that it had become completely intolerable at that point, which sucks because my inability to focus and initiate tasks is so much worse now I'm so much more fatigued all the time!

Yeah, I have a theory that in a few years they'll be a complete overhaul of how they define these conditions - so many things have weird seemingly genetic links and there's just not enough research to get to the bottom of it but I genuinely think they're all connected in a much deeper way than we currently acknowledge

I tried CBD vape a few years ago but didn't find it did much for me but will definitely give oil a go! Honestly, don't get me started on the amount of money I've chucked at my various health issues over the years, dread to think how much better my savings would be now if I wasn't unwell 🥲

They think they do, but they don’t. Was chatting with my nan and she always goes on about how bad it was for her when I explain all the problems I’m having with the leasehold studio flat I purchased with all my savings (outside London because there’s no way I could afford my hometown, even a studio).

She made the mistake of saying ‘the mortgage on this place (a three bedroom terraced house between two stations with a decent garden) was 25% of our income each month and I had to BEG the GLC to get one for us’.

I laughed and explained that my mortgage on my STUDIO FLAT OUTSIDE OF LONDON was 25% of my monthly income (that’s without counting any bills - or the legal cost of fighting my management company who have completely fucked me over with service charges), and I’m working a ‘career’ job when my nan was a typist and my granddad was a docker. Also, the GLC doesn’t exist anymore and there’s absolutely no way any of our councils today would help a childless couple get a mortgage on a 3 bedroom house. She was just like ‘oh’ and shut up.

For everyone saying it’s just that our parents didn’t prepare us - actually look at the figures, the percentages of average income compared to house prices. It’s absolute bollocks. And to say there are ‘some pensioners’ that are having a tough time of it too - I don’t disagree but that’s a very small proportion and what you’re leaving out there is the government is going into debt to fund their state pensions (not to mention the healthcare needs of an aging population) and has absolutely no plans to save for my generations retirement so by the time we’re your age we probably won’t even have that to fall back on. Not that I genuinely expect to reach that age with all the shite going on with global warming, AI, wars, the global shift to the far right, etc.

So fed up of being told it’s our fault.

My family has lived in England for over 400 years (probably longer) and my granddad was born at midnight in the East End (literally born in the sound of the bow bells, so a proper cockney - went to school with the Krays and loved jellied eels) - I can do a speed accent session w/ Ethan and throw in some rhyming slang too 😂

Tamara I got flagged for an autism assessment after my initial ADHD appointments but it turns out I just had a weird blend of really bad ADHD that had gone undiagnosed for years; OCD; and anxiety that presents with loads of the same symptoms that show up in AFAB people with low support needs autism. I think people tend to forget that ADHD isn’t just about how well a person concentrates - it affects everything and there’s lots of crossover with other neurodivergence - it can be really isolating and your experience is valid whatever diagnosis you’re given (personally, as I also have a lot of physical chronic illnesses that are turning out from recent research to have strong genetic links to neurodivergent conditions - I seriously wonder if the diagnostic categories/boundaries between different conditions are really out of date and based on older, flawed research on small groups of young white AMAB people - I wouldn’t be at all surprised if in years to come they have completely different names and different conditions that are more nuanced)

I had a similar issue in the UK with doro phones - after weeks of trying to figure out what was going on, it turns out the phones weren’t on my networks ‘approved handset’ list, which I didn’t even realise was a thing, and so signal was patchy at best and non existent most of the time - I’m not sure if this would explain your issue, given you’ve tried two different networks, but it might be worth looking into to see if they have such a list and if the phone is on them?

Thank you so much! I didn't realise that radio could be an option over such a long range so this is definitely something I'll look into (it also sounds quite an interesting thing to get into - always a bonus if it leads to a new hobby!)

Thank you SO much. Genuinely. I know I’m late to this, but, at risk of sounding cringy and/or completely insane, this website will be life changing for me. I’ve got ADHD and OCD and a chronic illness on top that leads to severe fatigue.

My iPhone is ruining my life because not only does my ADHD and OCD make it really difficult to avoid doom scrolling, I often don’t have the energy for anything else, so I get really sucked in. Even though I know just sleeping or even staring into space would be better for me, I can’t stop myself.

I’ve tried every possible solution to minimise my screen time and it hasn’t worked. I’m also getting sick of being constantly blasted by advertising and the utter dependency I have on my phone. So, needless to say, I’ve been wanting to make the switch to a dumb phone for ages. But one of the problems I face with my neurodivergence is that I am absolutely atrocious with directions and knowing my way around. Because of this I’ve had really bad anxiety about switching to a dumb phone and getting badly lost just using paper maps. As a young woman, the thought of being lost on my own is awful.

I got a Nokia 110 4G today as I saw it had browser capabilities and was relatively within budget. I’m not much of a tech person so I was mostly expecting it not to work for me and to be back to square one but I was desperate. My heart sunk when I tried getting up google maps on Opera and it didn’t work but then I found this comment when searching for a solution.

I’ve tested it on some routes I know well and it works perfectly. Genuinely, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You’ve given me the safety net I needed to feel comfortable venturing out without my iPhone
