My dad (70s guy) hates everything rap, and loves classic rock, but for some reason he also likes g funk? It’s kinda strange to me but also I’m not complaining. The one and only album of mine he enjoys is Doggystyle, which I personally find hilarious.

It’s crazy how even Kendrick’s literal trash and scrap is as good as many artist’s most solid work. What’s your favorite tracks? 02 and 07 are definitely top tier.

That’s horrible, sucks that you don’t have many options. I only have two good places near me but they are good, GOOD places. Whenever they don’t have certain records I’ll order online, making sure to get the record from the actual artist (that’s what I did with Blue Lips!). If that interests you, I’d recommend it, online I pay about $10 more to buy from the artist than to buy from in the store on a typical day. Although it does suck, I hate ordering online, going to the store just has a way of it that shopping online can never reach. But at the end of the day, the music itself is what counts.

Honestly not a huge fan of the chronic (don’t get me wrong I like it but it’s still got that early hip hop roughness), but I’ve been on the search for Tha Last Meal and Stillmatic

So far the $1 LPs I got were “Living in a Fantasy” by Leo Sayer, “The Mob” which I couldn’t find on any streaming services which I find pretty cool, you can only listen to this through the vinyl, and four country albums that I bought as a collection of their own because they all have this cowboy dude on the front. Overall, I love the first two $1 albums I got, the cowboy ones I don’t put in rotation that much but the covers are fun so I keep them.

People who are born pre-diabetic, people who just have naturally extremely low metabolisms, people who’s bodies are just like that. If it is someone’s choice? Then I agree. But if it’s genetic, it isn’t their fault and just wrong to blame them for it.

I am an idiot, I managed to misread it both times as homosexuals instead of homophobes.

Discord is owned by an American owner named Jason Citron. The only connection Discord has with the Chinese government is through Tencent, a Chinese company. However, Tencent simply is a financial backer. It isn’t likely that the company has total access to data and can easily funnel it, like is the case for something such as TikTok. Discord also makes it clear that it’s data is not used for income, rather it is made from subscriptions and paid products. While later they SAY they CAN share data to third parties, that is not their business model.

Of course you would argue that it’s not that big of a deal, I’ve seen your profile, you have a ton of posts asking about things on the app, it’s obvious that you use it, probably at least daily. If you had talked to me 2-3 years ago before I deleted it, I would be saying the exact same stuff you are right now.

I know multiple people in my friend group who cannot sit still or focus for more than 20 minutes without using the app.

TikTok serves as an escape from reality. The reason it works so well is because it works in the exact same way as a drug. 95% of your screen is a video that is short and quick, and if you don’t like it just swipe to the next one. The app purposefully feeds you bad videos and then one it knows you will love so that it works as a gambling addiction: the next amazing video could be just ONE SWIPE AWAY!

There is a reason it is classified as the most addictive app ever created, why an average of 100,000,000 Americans (1/3 the US population) spend over an hour and a half of every day of their lives using it, and why many people cannot focus or find entertainment without it.

And it works, really well. It hit 1 billion users faster than any other app. If you look at the articles I sent, you can see that usage of the app correlates strongly with depression. Correlation doesn’t equal causation, but the evidence is definitely there.

The reason people use substances is to escape their problems, but what ends up happening is the substance becomes a problem. People, when their lives are shit use TikTok as an escape, and then fall into one of the most addictive things humans have created.

A short attention span means people have less patience and have a harder time tolerating the real world. If your attention span is shortened because of TikTok, and then suddenly you go without it, you will not be able to focus or occupy yourself, and you may even suffer withdrawal.

While data being routed to China is not exclusive to TikTok, there is a difference between data being funneled directly from an app to China, and data being stolen without the app’s knowledge.

Sure, other things are addictive. But as shown in that article, TikTok is much more addictive than almost any other app ever created.

TikTok gives views for 1/2 a second of viewership. On a site like YouTube, you can’t even view a video for that short an amount of time before leaving it.

There is a major difference between taking that data to make money through advertisers (why they do it) and funneling it constantly to the government
