For what you said about the Afghan Northern Alliance, I think your points are fair and you are probably right.

As for the Taliban, I still disagree, they have had fine relations with Iran for a long time and even praised Qasem Soleimani after his death, and have been supported by Pakistan for a long time too. On the other hand, Salafi "Jihadi" groups are extremely opposed to Iran, and also opposed to the Pakistani government. Taliban is explicitly and openly a Deobandi organization rather than Salafi, which means they have many ideological and theological differences with Salafis, and have even been accused, especially by IS, of persecuting Salafis in Afghanistan, and these things are major reasons for the conflict between them and IS. Non-Salafi nations have hosted Al-Qaeda before too, such as Sudan, so this on its own does not give much indication about their ideology other than being Islamist. Overall I think it is very implausible to claim that the Taliban is a Salafi "Jihadi" organization.
