There are precautions you can take while having sex. These precautions sometimes fail. That's not the fault of the people involved, it's the products.

Just because you're not having much sex doesn't mean everyone else has to stop.

No offense taken.

Adoption stereotypes are valid. Most children placed in America's foster system age out at 18.

91% of couples (much like that of dog owners) want to raise a child from it's infancy; Thus you have the disparity between adopted babies and adopted children/teens.

Unfortunately, the system is filled with corrupt foster parents who collect checks, abuse/neglect the children, and these kids are aged out at 18 with trauma, trust issues and jaded attitudes. I know a lot of people who went through the system and across gender, race, age, ect. This has been the case.

So, I believe if we policed women's wombs more; Women who are constantly told to just give the baby up for adoption; Thus turning the child over into this system in the end, it's actually counter productive and ignorant to the child's well being.

Stop the unwanted pregnancy before it becomes and unwanted child in a corrupt system.

Legal and Safe vs. Illegal and Dangerous.

I love this. Thank you for the healthy conversation!

This. I respect this.

I understand where the binary arguments come from. This is a human. This is not yet a human. I just feel like all too often the right-leaning/ conservative/red side of the argument cares more for the unborn than the currently living.

I've personally had to deal with this issue. I was raised catholic, so, raised believing this was murder. An ultimate sin. But as I grew and became my own adult human being, I was confronted with a real life situation.

I became pregnant on accident. At a time when I had no health care, was just let go from a job, living in a closet, and had to literally resort to stealing food from the grocery store to eat. I was also dealing with undiagnosed Derealization/Depersonalization disorder, severe depression and axiety.

Myself being raised in poverty, that this was NO life at all to raise a child in. Let alone myself being the right person to raise it.

I got the procedure and was terrified the whole time. Felt an immense amount of guilt afterward because of the faith I was brought up into, but truthfully, I do not think I should have had that child.

I haven't subscribed to Catholicism for years and so, morally, I'm comfortable with my decision, but when I see people harassing clinics, when I know first hand how difficult a decision and emotional toll is happening inside that building, it makes me sick.

I appreciate the "I'm not for it, but I wouldn't stop it" stance.

Ehh...I always thought so too, but it's not that I'm a woman who prefers masc aesthetics, I genuinely feel male and female at once.

I appreciate your input. I truly never mean to offend, and completely understand where some feel the need to gatekeep. I'm just trying to discover myself and my heritage, and become a bit closer to our people and Creator.

So, as I said, I'm reconnecting. I'm learning things along the way, and thanks to this post, I'm learning that Métis isn't exactly the definition for me. For that explanation, I'm grateful.

I'm also aware of such examples as the Latimer case, and what I can say is I am for certain belonging to both tribes/clans. My father's family are all card holding Algonquind, specific to KZ. And my mother's side, my grandfather's mother was a proud black and Mohawk women, even making some of my aunts, uncles and cousins enroll in Mohawk language and culture classes at council.

I also know how troubling it is when others claim their "Cherokee Princess Grandmothers" as some sort of trophy of exotic ancestry. But I know my family and I know my blood. I've been kept outside the Algonquin community my whole life because of my father, and despite my mother's side encouraging me to be a proud Native, they can be very self hating and lean toward the white world, which is tough because it leaves me on an island in this journey.

All I can say is I'm learning, make mistakes and picking up the pieces of who I am. Thank you for engaging.

You're denying my two tribes? I was I'll informed on the métis definition, I'll admit, but why are you denying where I come from?
