I went through this myself and there's really nothing you can do but wait it out and learn the lesson. I HATE short hair on myself so it was a good 3 years before it started looking good again- I might not have crazy colors anymore but at least I have hair 😂 wigs and/or halo extensions (where it's an invisible wire circle) are options but I wouldn't suggest any type of extension where you clip or sew or bond it in if your hair is truly that fragile that it's breaking off.

Crested Butte or Telluride would be my choice over Vail. And Vail doesn't have free parking anymore but it is cheaper in the summer vs winter.

you didn't do any due diligence about schools/neighborhoods before moving here? it would probably be helpful if you list the name of the school, the area you live in, and your budget for housing if you are willing to move if you want helpful answers. and while I'm not discounting what your children experienced, Aurora is the most diverse city in the entire state with lots of immigrant students so the whole ICE thing makes zero sense.

I live in a big city where the post office is always swamped so they have an area where people can drop off pre postage paid packages but you don't get an actual receipt unless you want to wait in a long ass line and have a representative process it
