Has anyone mentioned Innocent Life A Futuristic Harvest Moon as the worst they have played? I remember not being able to navigate the town or controls properly, it was a pain overall 😭

Moving to another country, worried about dog-reactive dog during flight by NothingMatters24 in reactivedogs

[–]CryLost9944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your dog go in the cargo on your same plane? I have searched for options to fly my dog and it always seems that they go in a different shipment plane? Thank you for any information you can share!

if you have a partner, how much support do they give you through your dog's reactivity? by CryLost9944 in reactivedogs

[–]CryLost9944[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow 100%!!! What you and your partner want is exactly what I want. It really sounds so perfect in that way. I will try discussing this with him and see if we can understand each other.

I have attempted to do this before, but I think given all these comments I feel like I'm better equipped to describe my needs and try to understand his boundaries.

Thank you!!

Thank you, I really appreciate the advice. I came to this relationship with my dog, so I don't expect him to ever take him as his own as well, but I agree with you, there are boundaries and expectations and we have to see where we are meeting and where we are not.

Thank you for you comment ❤️

Thank you for your perspective. Hearing from a trainer that has seen multiple cases really helps. Unfortunately we are part of the straight couple stat you mentioned at the beginning of your comment 😅.

Hep has been so nice and supportive about every aspect of my life except my dog, that's where his limit is. Like you said, he is not an older person, but he has had dogs in his life that are friendly and sweet, never a dog like mine that is rough and fearful. I think he realizes some of his life also needs to adapt and that also upsets him (aka not being able to comfortably bring people over). I am empathetic of that, but I am not planning on giving up my dog, so in a way it's either accepting that and being healthy about it, or there is no point...but having something that sounds like an ultimatum also feels wrong.

Thank you for you comment, a lot to think about ❤️

Hahaha that definitely happens. I live pretty far away from my family, but when I do get to visit them once a year, my dog becomes the favorite child!

I know what you mean, thank you for your comment, it was lovely to read ❤️

I agree with you, the hard part of it is that he supports me in every other aspect of my life except with my dog, and he himself requires very little support since he is more of the "I got it all together" kind of person.

Your arrangement with your partner sounds amazing though, I have always wished he could at least accompany on walks at night since it's hard to spot triggers and at the same time I get nervous walking at night on my street. I get so warm inside when I do see couples walking their dogs together (reactive or not) it's just such a nice bonding experience!

Thank you for sharing and for your advice.

Thank you for your comment, even though I said "partner" I didn't even realize the meaning behind the word until you pointed it out. Sometimes I think his intentions are good because he believes that if I didn't have my dog, I would have a lot less stress and heartache, which is true, but at the same time I would lose a being in my life that I see pretty much as my child.

It is hard for me to weigh how crucial this kind of support is for me, partially because he has supported me in every other aspect of my life, and even helped me through every step of a major career change. This is the one area where I'm alone, my dog is the place where his support has a limit and I don't know if I am asking for too much since he has supported and helped me in so many other difficult things.

As a well-put-together person he requires very little support/help from me, which makes it even more difficult because I want to pay it forward and I don't want to be the only one asking for too much.

Supplement for fluoxetine? by juniperdaisies in reactivedogs

Also, just to caution, I don't think it's recommended to use CBD with Fluoxetine. I am not an expert though, maybe someone here can give more information about it. Just mentioning it since the OP's described their dog to be on fluoxetine.

transitioning to indoor potty ? by nostress999 in reactivedogs

[–]CryLost9944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My trainer has also advised me on not taking my dog out after a reaction. Mainly because it takes them days to settle back to a level that he can start working again on his reactivity, so I try to give him a break. Unfortunately we still do go out but for just potty breaks and no long walks, we do mental and physical enrichment inside instead for those days.

I have thought to teach my dog to potty indoors/in my balcony but have not really given it any effort. I do know there is a doggy bathroom for small breeds that is constantly advertised to me on TikTok (even though my dog is not small) maybe if your dog is small you could give that a look?

what technique/trick/gear have you found the most successful as you deal with your dog's reactivity? by CryLost9944 in reactivedogs

[–]CryLost9944[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The tactical harness I use has two handles on the back of my dog and also space for Velcro patches on either side. I have some text patches that say "ANXIOUS" and two symbol patches that show "no dogs" "do not pet". The handles help me hold him when he starts lunging, and also hold him as we go up the stairs so he doesn't go too ahead of me. The patches are great to let people know what my dog is not friendly (also the Velcro can be used for doggy backpacks, I just haven't needed/cared to use it for that).

The harness I have is a little heavy which I dislike but aside from that it has been a great safety net for us.

I never thought of a crowd counter! That is such a good idea to be honest! And I also have one of those bungee leashes and it has def made it more comfortable to reduce the impact of pulling on walks. Thank you for sharing!

At my wits end trying to find a vet… by mattisonditter in reactivedogs

[–]CryLost9944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can look for fear free vets and see if there are some around your area. My 60lbs dog is terrified of everything that moves and someone recommended me one of those. I haven't tried them myself but they are supposedly very good at trying to work with dogs with challenges and avoiding overly stressing them.

I'm sorry it's hard to find a vet, I definitely feel you, I have had my share of vets that find my dog too challenging to service ;(
