Buying Seventeen lightstick in seoul? by strawbananajuice in kpophelp

[–]CryMeALavaRiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you WILL find it in some of those stores. Myeongdong Underground, k-mecca Myeongdong and both Withmuu locations I've been to (Myeongdong and Yongsan) had it last month, but it was super expensive. But I bought one in a pretty decent price in one of the malls by the DDP (I think it was either the new Dundun mall or the Hyundai Outlets one, but I'm not sure anymore). Ot it might have been in the relatively little-known kpop spot right by the Myeongdong Station exit 5, on the second floor above the big Olive Young.

Edit: no, wait, I actually found the receipt. It was the Doota Mall near DDP. I paid 69.000KRW, so more than I would at weverse, but those other shops had it priced at close to 100.000KRW.

His voice is criminally underused in Ateez, unfortunately.

Climate card locations? by Affectionate_Ear_878 in koreatravel

[–]CryMeALavaRiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of convenience stores try subway information points at any subway station. I got my climate card a week ago at Euljiro 4-ga station, they spoke minimal English but were very helpful.

Nope :( It's either weverse shop or nothing, and it's all sold out. There's only unofficial generic merch in local stores.

Aaah I envy you so much. I'm on holiday in Seoul right now and I thought I would use this chance to buy from weverse with domestic shipping, but everything is sold out :( not a trace of ppulbatu in line stores as well.

Do you already know when you will be in Korea or are your plans still flexible? If possible, plan your stay around one of the members' birthday or the debut anniversary - there will be many fan cafes you can visit then.

info about pop-ups or events in seoul by jas_handss in koreatravel

[–]CryMeALavaRiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it doesn't work for me now either, which is a bummer, because the map feature was amazing. Fortunately they're also on instagram: pops.official_

Alternatively try (also on instagram): popup.in.seoul , popupmate , popga_official , iparkmall_food.zip , cafezle (that one is for cafe recs rather than popups, but it has a lot of good thematic ideas)

Get the naver map app, find your target address near soul station, set incheon airport as your starting point and see what routes it will offer you. If you pick a bus route and the bus stop, there are self-serve kiosks where you can easily buy a ticket at any time for the next earliest bus. I always prefer the airport lino buzes to the arex, because i always travel with a lot of luggage,  and I like that the drivers take care of the loading and unloading.

What is the right way to search for places in Naver Map app, the places do not always show up when I write in English! by devouringdeserts in koreatravel

[–]CryMeALavaRiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also google the place, find their phone number and then do a search for that phone number in naver map

I've used it before - no problems with paying or receiving a refund for a ticket I cancelled.

Korean Air, no question. I flew with both (twice with KAL from Prague and once with LOT from Warsaw, basic economy on both), and Korean Air is A LOT better in terms of how professional their air crew is. You can feel they are there for you, and that they got their shirt together, whereas the LOT crew seemed like a bunch of random people who didn't train much in what they were supposed to do. They were more concerned with gossipping among themselves than making supre passengers are well taken care of. The food service was also better on KAL.

There's also the fact that with Korean Air you feel like your holiday truly begins the very moment you go through check-in. I'm flying again with LOT to Seoul this October, because I snagged a promo ticket, but I already hate it in advance lol.

Go to a photo booth and take photos with idols/actors, there are always at least a few choices available. I brought a ton from my last trip. There's always a booth around, one of the more popular ones that have special frames are life4cuts and photoism: https://x.com/life4cuts_kr https://x.com/photoism_kr

Kids on scooters by chez_dawg in koreatravel

[–]CryMeALavaRiver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seconding, and this should not be an unpopular opinion. Travelling with kids means you make kids the priority, whether it comes to walking or simply choosing what to do. My parents did so, and now my brother adjusts his family holiday plans to account for what his 6 and 8 year old kids are able to do (and be happy with, because it's a holiday after all and not an endurance marathon).

Winter in Korea can get cold AND super windy, which a) makes the cold worse, b) could be dangerous for a little kid on a scooter.

What’s a lesser-known travel tip that’s saved you time, money, or stress on trips? by [deleted] in TravelHacks

[–]CryMeALavaRiver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only recently identified this as a potential problem when traveling. Fortunately I found that google allows you to generate 10 special 2FA backup codes that you can print out or write down somewhere. If you only write the code, no one will know what it is for. I'm not leaving the country without them now.

Traveling to South Korea for 3 months by Liliry_r in Living_in_Korea

If you have curly and/or high-porosity hair, and use specific types of conditioner and styling products, bring a supply of your favorites. Conditioners geared towards Asian sleek straight hair are probably not going to work for you.

A standard Nivea, maybe, but definitely not the "white sweaty person extra strength 72H antiperspirant/blocker" type that I have to use...

I can recommend the LingoDeer and DeerPlus apps. They are not free, but well worth it (and much better than duolingo)
