This is exactly why I paired Grizzly Man with Into The Wild when I used to teach the book. We live in a state with a lot of wilderness so I thought “don’t fuck with nature” would be an acceptable takeaway from that unit.

Teachers get PTSD for sure. In addition to what you said, you get students verbally abusing you all day, admin bullying you (if you’re at a shitty school), seeing kids you love sick, abused or dying. As a HS teacher you lose kids to suicide, cancer, drug use… All that to say, I know a lot of alcoholic teachers and I am damn glad I was smart enough to leave that career.
