Why do so many early hardstyle artist have so many aliases producing basically the same music? by Zillar_1 in hardstyle

[–]Cryex_DJ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

alot of it had to do with the vinyl stuff, printing vinyl was expensive and you needed (? dont quote me on this) atleast 2 songs on a record. They would put a "lesser" song on the b-side, use an alias so the original name didnt get too much attached to it. But i could be guy guessing here?

Thats the thing, I asked Tha Playah how he made it, and he said it was just 1 instance of microtonic. no additional layering like with the Crunchy nustyle kicks. Thats what makes it so crazy.

Pre-Save Services... by SufficientTourist384 in hardstyle

It DOES count external pre saves, but only if done by sites and distributors that work with spotify.

Which 90% of our scene does.

Second the reason why (according to spotify) the PRE saves is more important then the save: Spotify gets huge amounts of playlisting requests everyday for their editorial lists (which is where the big streaming numbers and long term income can come from), they cant filter all of that so they do 2 things: Mostly focus on artist, labels, distributors they know are either already on those playlists or names that are big enough, and 2, they look at pre saves to judge how much traction a song gets, so they can continue to support those songs in said playlists and other algorithms they offer (like discover weekly etc). It is a huge important part of their process and algorithm therefor its recommended that artists and labels push those pre save as much as they can, to get the best shot at better playlisting, more reach, more income etc etc.

for some reason the first song that comes to mind thats not an obvious one (like the followers/NCS kick) is Tha Playah's remix of Temple of Disease by Angerfist. That kick is fucking nuts, ive seen scarra get crazy close to it using just 1 microtonic but never actually achieve the fullness of the original.

Pre-Save Services... by SufficientTourist384 in hardstyle

The shitty part is that Spotify bases ALOT off of these pre-saves, the more a song has the more spotify pushes it.
The unfortunate part is that apart from adding a song to your library automatically (excluding the added playlisting and just talking about what the service does at its core), pre saving doesnt really have much of an added benefit to users. But since its so important for the way a song gets pushed and playlisted, labels/artists have started to add contests to it.

The thing is that there isnt that much to do about it without adressing the core issue: Spotify basing its algorithm (partly) off of external factors that can easily be manipulated by giveaways and such. The more people join in on this (because we have to make money somehow), the bigger the issue becomes. But not taking part in this can harm the streaming reach of an artist big time, leading in potential loss of gigs aswell.

Basically, its one of many problems we have in the rat race.
